Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy continues Squeenix's tradition of stupid titles

Still, it officially concludes all we know or can guess. Square is on record saying it would add somewhere between 4 and 10 characters and Vaan is the 4th. Our only other clue is that one of the stages looks like the Prima Vista. So our last guess is that someone new from FF9 will make it in, but who it might be is up to speculation. The obvious choice based on popularity in the West is Vivi, but I have no clue if he shares that trait in Japan. Garnet, Steiner, and Eiko are also good candidates, being a Summoner/WM and the love interest, a main character and powerful fighter who could cause conflict with Zidane, and a Summoner/WM who follows the "perky young girl" stereotype Japan is so fond of.

Personally, I hope it's Vivi, but I wouldn't mind seeing Steiner on the side of Chaos.


Edit: I mean unless anyone wants to go digging around the Twitter accounts of every VA to do an FF character. They all seem to have been surprisingly loose-lipped about it.

...yeah that's pretty much all I can say at this point. Kinda curious if there'll be references to the Final Fantasy Twelve Sequels and spin-offs in his character though. There's certainly plenty of room for them - what with items like the God Blade from Revenant Wings and his Sky Pirate Costume in Grimoire of the Rift.

There was never any point to him. All he brought to his game was redundancy, a big brother who served as the sacrificial lamb to show you the tutorial, and a passable warm body to drag you through combat when there wasn't anyone around. Also Penelo, but that goes on his long list of crappy things he brought to the game.

I always thought it was kinda neat to see a final fantasy game through the eyes of one of the party members who tags along with the real hero of the story (Ashe and/or Balthier).

They might have pulled it off if he hadn't been so annoying and useless. He starts the game off stealing from asshole guards and that about sums up everything even marginally cool he does in the entire game. He's a street-smart thief and could have totally been a diamond in the rough if they'd just done something with him, but he never gets past the "only your fleas will mourn you" phase as far as I ever saw.

I mean White Knight Chronicles did the same thing by including your online avatar in the party and doing a pretty good job of making it look like s/he had business being there, despite having no lines. S/he reacted and emoted in a very human way and was actually in on some of the major action, even if s/he did tend to just stand off to the side and watch everyone else talk during conversations. THAT was a pretty good way to allow you to project, because you could make him/her look like you and it was a totally blank slate. Vaan didn't have any of those benefits and just came off as a useless hanger-on that got shoehorned in every once in awhile just to remind you he was still there and still supposed to be important.
