Labeling your god as nonlogical is a tricky maneuver to be careful about. So, say, your god determines your place in the afterlife? And gives you some rules to follow so you can go to super happy niceland? Well, maybe you're supposed to not follow those rules, profusely, and that's the way to get your god's favor. Doesn't make much sense, does it? It's okay, it doesn't have to; it's a god!
I really don't have the energy to expound this or present any colorful, entertaining examples, but I hope you get the idea. |

I'm not saying that God is illogical as such, just that there is no basic for saying that he is logical or rational, just like there is none for saying the universe is.
I mean I have my own personal belief about God, the rationality of him, what he expects us to do etc but I can't prove it just like I can't prove anything about the universe or the world we live in at all. Oh and welcome to the dilemmas of post-modernism. Inextricable advance of logic and reason? Pah! We killed that back in the 60's. The problems of loss of logic are felt everywhere! You know, new question.
What is the point of this thread? I mean, I know what the point of this thread is, but I don't see the point of having it. Debating religions is just like, well, any other argument over the internet. I mean, the only reason I could see the purpose of this thread would be to convert someone else to your religion. I mean, this side is stubborn, not going to move, and this side is too, so if the immovable object were to hit the unstoppable force, Chuck Norris would die... ...Where'd my sentence go? Anyway, the point is that, why must we scream at one another about who's God has the bigger dick? It gets us nowhere. I don't know about you, but I wash my hands of this. At least, you know, until I'm feeling overly-religious and debate-y again, like I was this weekend. |

I'm just surprised no one has hijacked this thread to start a new religion. It would be crazy mad.
But I think one can debate both sides and I've certainly learnt what other people think, which is interesting, and I hope I've conveyed what I think. The goal is not to win debate but to expand knowledge of this areas. And not everyone as nihilistic as me. You can blame academia for that. |

I assume by that you are a Deist Xaeta?
Do you have a particular slant on Deism? I've heard a couple of unique ones but mostly it seems pretty general, though my deism knowledge comes from 1700's-1800's Deism so if you care to outline current trends in it I would be most appreciatory. |

Anyone else a Druid?
And could somebody please proffer a list of all the religions. Cause I need to pick one soon. Cause the Rapture is upon us.
