I wanted to try my hand at humanizing my favorite character from my little pony. So Here is Evil Scientist Discord...Why? Because we already have Evil Mastermind versions Evil barbarian versions and weird Evil wizard-like versions. Why not complete the evil list.

DVA350 - Advanced 3D Modeling
So the focus for the past few weeks of class has been modeling a complex organic character or vehicle with all the details. Level of detail meshes, normal maps and such, which is all new territory for me. Since most of the stuff we did in DVA250 was inorganic, I decided to try character modeling for the first time.
I used an old digital painting assignment for inspiration (a kolbold miner named Sven). I created a turnaround sheet for modeling (with both clothed and unclothed references). I then used NURBS surfaces sewn together and converted to polygons to create a base mesh based on the turnaround (this was in Maya). In retrospect, I should have built the top and bottom jaws separately for animation but since this was my first time doing this sort of work I thought it could be forgiven. After laying out the UVs, a mesh smooth modifier created a mid-level mesh which I imported into Zbrush to create high-poly details that could be applied as a normal map. This is the current model with the normal map applied. After this, we'll probably get into the specifics of creating color textures and other details.
