I for one would be willing to comprimise, however the rules needed to fashion Calvin Ball into an operational, non god mode, rp would inevitably destroy the inherent Calvin Ball flavor. I suggest we all just start up another rp, one in which there are classic rules, humor is not dependent on omnipotence. If someone is funny with the powers of a god, they will still be funny as a mortal. I think all the unique personalities involved in Calvin Ball would make great role players in any setting. I know this is probably not what everyone wants to hear, but I see no feesable way to make Calvin Ball mesh with the confines of this forum without removing the quintessential Calvin Ballyness.

this post is turning out to be more fun than calvin ball, I love a good debate!

<EDIT> I agree with osterbaum, just for the record, I hope everyone understands what I am trying to say, I am not arguing or flaming anything or anyone, sometimes i express myself in odd ways, I think its funny, but I feel that either people are taking me the wrong way or ignoring me completely, the latter is fine but I don't want any misunderstandings. <EDIT>

Ok...so I've got a proposal. Those who wan't to continue Calvinball take it to another forum, as it has been said.

It seems to me that you have been ignoring pretty much what Rai and Shiney have posted. No I donn't know why I must remaind you that they are mods, so they say that there was too much spam or god modding in calvinball and they don't allow you to do it anymore, then it's just so. If you really feel like you have to continue calvinball then do it some place else or trie to reach some kind of a agreement or take it to another forum.

And the flaming is just of no use...really...

Post counts don't matter. If a poster thinks they are better because of a post count, it's very easy to cut them down by deleting their spam topics. I have a half mind to outright delete the old calvinball threads and let it be finished. Wipe it from the face of nuklearpower.

Lemme ask something. How many of you would have the gall to suggest 'leave us alone' or 'how bout you just let us remake it, but slightly differently' to Kurosen, or Mashirosen? Viper? Me? How many of you would argue Mash to her face, ignore her alternatives, and just keep needling expecting to get your way? Anyone? Quit taking advantage of RaiRai's kindness and fucking get over it. She has told you what you can do with the thread. Just don't do it here. The end.

As the most prominant Calvinball Player here, I feel it is my duty to try to preserve what I love.

However, Rai Rai, your concerns are not unfounded. I personally have noticed spam in Calvinball, and it seems to be from the same players... names excluded to protect the spammy.

I see Calvinball as an evolution. In the very first Calvinball, most of those who are protesting Calvinball actually posted there, in fact Forever Zero won the very first Calvinball after a match with BMHadoken. The first Calvinball was just what we are hearing from here: total all out godmoding with no sense and a lot of spam. take the first one and compare it to Calvinball 17. CB17 was very close to a real RP, all the players were in a team taking down a common force.

I must agree with some of you in saying that I hate those people who post "Nu uh! I shot u!" and so on, but when you get the seasoned veterans (Bob the Mercenary, SAAM, Jadarendir, and Videogamerz2000) controling the thread, we end up with many a hilarious and non-spammy stories, IE: Lord of the Rendirs from Calvinball 5 I think. many people have seen these and told me I should make Flash videos of these stories. many of the things that we come up with are indeed hilarious. When these Veterans are not present is when the posts degrade into spam. I have been thouroughly embarassed by several Calvinball threads, IE: Calvinball SDFOILDF:KLJ or whatever it was called. I was embarassed to say I was a Calvinballer that day, and I hoped it would not continue... which it did in Calvinball 18.

I have seen the Spam and I don't like it. I have seen the storylines, and I love them. In a time in my life when everything seems to be falling apart for me, Calvinball is one of those things that can cheer me up with a good laugh. It also flexes the creative muscles, thinking up clever ways to continue and end threads.

As for the post count in the threads, I have personally always tried to keep the posts from growing too large.

In closing, I guess the thing I am trying to say is that I love Calvinball. I know of many others who love Calvinball. My suggestion stems out of a conversation I had with Jadarendir today: let us keep Calvinball, but with conditions.

Condition 1. it stays in one thread, never to pop up in any other RP.

Condition 2. Calvinball can only take place when 1 or more of the Veterans are online to prevent spam... sort of an official Calvinball Moderator.

Condition 3. Official rules for calvinball are made up, including banning of all out Childish Godmoding, as well as a "Roll with it" rule. meaning if you are hit, go with it and counter in a funny way, as well as when attacking, name the attack and let the other guy decide the damage.

Please don't take Calvinball away from us, for most of us it is the main reason for posting on the Forums, and cements friendships throughout the Forum.

Anyway, thank you for your time, and I hope my suggestions are considered. if there are any other conditions that a Mod would like to add in order for us to keep our game, I would be more than glad to hear it.

Thank you.

Slightly Above Average Man.

Hey, that was the only time of the day that certain somone could obviously get a post in, what with everyone flooding the thread every minute! Nocturnals(and people on the other side of the globe) take advantage of those who sleep. Which pretty much supports my claim that it's hard to get any posts in.

But anyway, that's what confused me about Calvinball. I read the rules on my first day on the board, then a couple posts down I saw "Calvinball 8," gave it a look, and thought to myself, "Why is this breaking the rules?" I figured maybe it was okayed by the mods as an exceptional(meaning "exempt from the rules," not "spectacular") thread. -Shrug-Guess I was incorrect.

Really, if you guys were to make Calvinball, you should have at least had some kind of Calvin&Hobbes grounding for it. Even C&H were bound by rules. Matter of fact, that's the other thing I was expecting when I first saw the thread: "Oh, hey, people are playing that baseball/soccer/football/water polo/etc. game from Calvin&Hobbes!"

I have to agree with Otaku about the fact that you could barelly post in the middle of all the other posts. In any case...if you read Rai's/Shiney's post you should know that this should stop. That's what I atleast read.

That was Shiney's post. He doesn't take shit whereas I'm much more understanding. So this must have REALLY gotten to him. I'm willing to discuss comprimise if such a need arises.

This thread is basically all of the problems with Calvinball, but multiplied by 20. There have been about 6 of them already I think, starting with Beat up Klyco (That 500 post thing).

It seems to me that Shiney was highly annoyed about the fact that he saw disrespect shown agaisnt you. Anyways, the post that SAAM made was good. No flaming, but a friendly kind of suggestion.
