Speaking of timeframes there was something in a Cracked article a few months ago:

Quote:
So there's the famous sequence where Luke gets trained by Yoda on Yoda's shithole of a planet. To break up the sequence, the film cuts to the Millennium Falcon getting chased by the Empire to Lando's cloud city. When they arrive, they get captured, at which point Luke has finished his training.

Well, that doesn't work. Were they chased for months? Or was Luke trained in an afternoon? Either we were spared some extended scenes on board the Millennium Falcon featuring starvation and debates about when they'd have to eat Chewbacca, or becoming a Jedi is easier than getting a cub scout merit badge.
[...]
Now it's true that when Luke tries to leave, Yoda insists the training isn't over. But when Luke returns to Planet Shithole in Return of the Jedi to finish it, Yoda waves him off and tells him there's nothing else to learn.

Then it turns out the final test Luke has to pass to become a Jedi is to defeat Darth Vader, the most powerful Jedi in the universe which kind of seems like a huge leap in difficulty after his one-day training session.

Are there only 2 droids and 1 wookie in the whole galaxy?
I take it the Droid Armies and the entire PLANET of Large Furry Creatures That Looked Like Wookies were really just hallucinations?

R2D2 and C-3PO are in them all because they ARE popular characters, and it brings to light that they were there since the very start of it all, and even before, witness to a host of crimes and heroics and history.

I'm mostly ignoring the idea that Chewbacca being there was something that could be -stupid- seeing as how he had some of the best acting in the movie, excepting of course the CGI tree-frog sage, and he was just a big suit that did little but roar and flail.

He's also of Noble blood, a direct descendant of the first great chieftain of Kashyyyk. He'll be there if a war is being fought on his planet, he's a freaking hero among his people.

EDIT: To delve in further into my nerdiness, I'll adress the above by saying...

Hyperspace travel isn't an instant thing, they could have been in transit to cloud city for a few weeks, and the movie just did what movies do and glazed over the long time and cut to something that had happened before but we were watching something else so it had to recap but it didn't do it in a recapish manner so it's really an interpretation anyway. Who knows, write to Lucas.

Oh come on; if you seriously have any way to 'tweak' or 'adlib' "My heart is burning praying that that kiss will not become a scar" that doesn't involve faking your Anatomy skill and a chainsaw, I'm all ears.

Easy, do as Harrison Ford, and say a completely different line. That's kind of the core essence of ad-libbing, in fact. It's micro improvisation.

New trilogy was worse, except the choreography of the lightsaber battles is by and large superior (but you have to fast-forward through the rest of the movie to get to them. And the one in Episode 2 wasn't very good making that movie pretty much stall other than the Obi-Wan/Jango Fett battle which was pretty okay overall).

Did Ford actually do this more than just the infamous Indiana Jones thing?

One part I definately know of, right before being frozen in carbonite, when Leia says "I love you". Originally, that was a line (I think it was I love you too) that just did not work. It didn't fit the character Lucas himself crated. So, then Ford ad-libbed "I know." SCENE SAVED! There are probably other bits in there. It wouldn't surprise me, seeing how the prequels turned out.

And to think, Lucas was originally not going to cast him.

I stand by my statement that making it sound not-awful involves chainsaw surgery, but I will admit that Lucas never was fantastic.

Though I do have to wonder how the original script of the "Scoundrel" scene played out, now that we're calling Lucas into question.

Yes, you have: it's the wrong way! I keed, I keed.

The prequels back that notion up: a raving lunatic with poor impulse control can do it, albeit in the "special class", since it evidently took longer.
