The question you ask is, "Where would the other tell me to go?" The one who tells lies would tell you the wrong way because the truthful one would tell you the right way. The one who tells truths would tell you to go the wrong way because that IS what the liar would say.
You then go the opposite direction. Spoilered for those who want to figure it out on their own.

For the village one: Ask them "Do you know where I'm going?" If one exclusively speaks lies, he'll have to answer yes, won't he?
And the gurusloth/krylo/whover-the-hell-deserves-credit-cause-I've-lost-track method also works. For the other one Premonitions put, of words ending in gry... Ingry isn't a word, is it? Cause I triple checked, and there are no other words ending in gry in that riddle.

Okay, here's a riddle Einstein himself wrote in the early 19th century. He said 98% of the world would not be able to solve it. Good luck. -_-
There are 5 houses in 5 different colors. In each house lives a person with a different nationality. The 5 owners drink a certain type of beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar, and keep a certain pet. No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar, or drink the same beverage. The question is: Who owns the fish? Hints: The Brit lives in the red house. The Swede keeps dogs as pets. The Dane drinks tea. The green house is on the left of the white house. The green homeowner drinks coffee. The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill. The man living in the center house drinks milk. The Norwegian lives in the first house. The man who smokes Blend lives next to the one who keeps cats. The man who keeps the horse lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill. The owner who smokes Bluemaster drinks beer. The German smokes prince. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house. The man who smokes Blend has a neighbor who drinks water.

I am going to say Germans have the fish, and the clue "The green house is on the left of the white house" means the white house's left correct? If not I messed up badly
EDIT: I put it in spoiler text so those trying to figure it out won't be spoiled.

Okay, this is what I've got.
The Fish Owner is the Coffee-drinking, Prince-smoking, German, living in the fourth/green house. But I could be wrong. If the green house is just on the left (but not the immediate left) of the white house, then I'm wrong. Also, I have this nagging thought that I'm wrong anyway. Like maybe nobody owns a fish because it wasn't part of the problem. But it was fun anyway. I like logic puzzles. Last edited by Kitty Cannonade; 11-05-2005 at 09:22 PM. |

EDIT: It appears I got the same answer as the Choco up there. ^^;; Guess posting was kinda pointless. Quote:
