* clap clap clap * Excellent I'm also a fan of giant melees with people like Falcon. I have fun playing as Marth or Roy, but I am not good at stringing their sword combinations together (meaning the b-side move that starts out patterns). I love countering with them, however -- especially Roy. And I have died many a match practicing the hookshot/beamhook grab on the edge of levels when falling to my doom. Sometimes, though, it's offered me the element of surprise. I have no one around here, now that I moved to Penn State for grad. school, who has a Gamecube and this game. As tempting as it is, I will not buy a system to play one game, especially one multiplayer game.

Fastest moving character ever:
Pichu at 999% being hit with a triple bucket of Samus Aran's fully charged blast.

I play as Roy, cuz he's just that bad**s. What I like to do is run up and bean people in the face with the Sword of Seals using B+Forward and A combos, then finish off with a well-aimed Smash attack.
What I do that's really fun is if someone tries to jump over me or stands above me, I to use the B+up attack, then say, "Never stand above me like that."

Marth, and only Marth thus far. If I wanna get good, I need to stick with my favorite.
The key to using Marth is to whore his forward smash and use maybe 1 or 2 other moves. Cheap, yeah, but it would be helped if it wasn't so damn good. You can KO at 30% with a sweet spot hit. Plus it covers the entire front half of his body, including above you, has wicked high priority, and coming out is one of the fastest smashes in the game. Tack on decent damage and high power and you've got a game winner. Just about all of Marth's moves cover a large part of his body, making him hard to hit if you keep the pressure on, especially in mid-air. This makes him deadly with shorthopping too. His only real downside is that if you can't get his sweet spot right (the very tip of the blade) you'll get crushed. Also, as far as Marth vs. Roy goes: They're both good for different reasons (I tend to play Roy on occasion for large melees, as any Marth player can tell you he's not nearly as good in group battles as he is one-on-one), but a straight up match-up is no contest. Marth has far superior range and speed, and Roy can hardly touch him. |

Yay for the Fan Art thread!

JIGGLYPUFF!
Although he has to be wearing the green bandana/ribbon. If it has the blue bow then it is PURE EVIL! My strategy is to use >B repeatedly until they think they know what is coming and then I use the infamous Lullaby and Rest combo. Or, if I'm against a lame player or Bowser, I just spam rest. My Second Character is Marth for all the reasons other people have stated. My brother's strategy is: Choose a character with a ranged attack. Spam it. Run. Spam it. Run. Weaken me and perform the character's Meteor Smash or Similar. Then he acts like he has the most brave and awesome strategy ever. Hehehe. Cruel Melee, Jigglypuff has defeated over 100 wire frame people by spamming rest. Yay.

I've always loved Link's pogo sword attack. Y'know, jump above an enemy then hit
A \/. If you time it really well and jump down and attack a close group of your opponents, you can pogo off each of their heads, hit the ground, then use Link's allmighty spin attack. Except, once this friend told me using Link was cheap and that they don't allow him in tournaments because he has some sort of endless combo Link could pull off. Anyone else hear of this, or was the guy just trying to make me not play as Link so as to gain an upper hand?

Best way to use Link's Down+A aerial is to fall through a platform and immediately use it. It might take practice, but it is awesome when it works. Edited for typoness.

Mewtwo. His close range hypnosis beam is highly under-rated, as is his reflection attack - and he has some of the best throws in the game. Plus, he has the descending full-body shock. You just can't beat that.
