FRONT KICK OF DOOM!
|
^ yes.
Eltargrim got the nail on the head. I mean seriously... Who would want to see a rubber man like OP in live action (done incorrectly) Or the new DBZ movie... I believe I rest my case. Before I come on as a downer, I have to think of what the American comics ARE doing right. They own the rights to their works and aren't leaving it to Hollywood (speaking specifically of Marvel Studios) anymore. The reason the first SF movie sucked was because Capcom left the series to someone else. Bad move. That's why their next movies of SF were animated. -Edit- So I saw Max in action. -_-; It had a few good points but they're few and far between. It was boring and the dialogue was decent. Mark Wahlberg could have done a better job as Payne though. I mean he's a tragic hero and I KNOW he's done it better in other movies. But here, I can't feel sorry for Payne. He gets the drop on the thugs, he fights like a man possessed but everyone in the precinct feels sorry for him, so he damn near gets away with murder. Everything goes to hell in a handbasket and yet, Payne is not as tragic as he seemed in the game. They moved him from undercover work to cold cases, which takes a LOT out of why he's seeking revenge. Mila doesn't seem to care at all. And while there's allusions to the game, it came off as an empty plot thread that didn't need to be done. The ending... Anticlimactic to the worst extreme. Uwe Boll might have done a better job on this one. If there's a Max Payne 2, I will rent. The title of this thread is accurate. Last edited by Jagos; 10-18-2008 at 09:25 PM. |

Their movie WAS ill received, cementing Square in the old and traditional and less experimentative on their games. Which is what FF9 was a fundament to. Their games before that were something that really tested boundaries (Parasite Eve and the action RPG/horror genre or Vagrant Story and it's choose-a-limb feature)
Comparing that to FF, FF and more FF? They rooted themselves in something that makes them money. Which in fact does suck. Now that this is completely off topic, I'm digressing. I don't hate Square but this isn't the right place to espouse what their strengths and weaknesses as a company are. Last edited by Jagos; 10-19-2008 at 09:44 AM. |

And now, to stop being off-topic, Max Payne isn't showing over here yet. Seriously. You know what's showing in the one* movie theater we have in my city? The Mist. I wish it was showing here so I could see how true are your comments but alas, that'll take at least 3 months. *= There were two movie theaters...One was bought to be made into a car parking lot...Seriously. |

Also: Mario Brothers is the greatest movie of all time. No woman can resist the charms of Mario! Anyway, videogame movies need to be done more like Speed Racer was.

honestly though, did anyone expect this movie to be good? At first I thought it could be, but the moment I saw the trailer I knew it was gonna be crapptastic

Wasn't Tron the first video game movie, and awesome?
I enjoyed MP as a shoot 'em up flick, I just don't understand why they tossed the great setup from the game's plot and made the ending suck so much...

Tron was based on video games in general, it wasn't originally a game
