I thought Frog's formal but not ridiculous language was a good improvement, in most places.
His "Cyrus's hopes and dreams... and now the Masamune!" line lost alot of oomph, though. All in all, I would rate the game favorably for giving me Chrono Trigger on the go.

Usually I wouldn't comment on added content if the game was good already, but in this case, said additional content can actually confuse you on what you should do next and end up being frustrating. Kind of like the stupid Puddingway of Final Fantasy II, which first is a series of small sdequests you can do without deviating from the main story and suddenly in the middle becomes an incredible grind adventure... NOT FUN AT ALL.
Point is that if this is your first version of the game, those extra dungeons will annoy you, frustrate you, and PROBABLY make you toss the game aside. They serve no real purpose, since they don't tie into the storyline, aren't really any fun, and the boss that does tie into the storyline makes the future from Chrono Cross even more nonsensical than it already is. And I'm not taking jabs at Chrono Cross. By itself it's a really good game with a decent storyline, but it's ties to Chrono Trigger are ridiculous at best. Seriously, Lucca dies in a fire?, wtf I give the game a C+, since it's good, but there are better games already out there, and on older systems (GBA for example). Chrono Trigger's formula was tried and true a decade ago and RPG games have evolved a bit since then. Again, if you already played this game on any other system, do yourself a favor: Don't buy this. One thing is remaking an old game and try giving it new life (I enjoyed Dawn of Souls), and another one is just repackaging an old game with added bullshit. Hell, now I go back and see Prophet's Guile and wonder why the hell didn't Square take some risks? Is a Rom Hack (a very, VERY badly written romhack) a better product than an official release? Why? I know anything that said Chrono Trigger was going to sell (I fell right into it), but I didn't expect it to be the crap it was.

It just seems to me like they took the old translation and cleaned it up a bit. There's fewer grammatical errors, and the character's personalities seem more distinct from each other (for example, Magus says something more befitting his status as an arcane lord of darkness than "Okay, give me your best shot," this time around), and overall it's just clearer and easier to understand. And since this translation came out in 2009 rather than 1995, they're able to get away with a couple things that had to be turned into euphemisms the first time around (Flea Vest anyone?). That, and I just think "Iceberg Toss" is a way better name for an attack than "Cube Toss." "Cube Toss" sounds like... like you're trying to choke a baby with a Rubik's Cube.
