Archer and Armstrong vs. the World

As someone mentioned earlier, Thanksgiving as it exists in modern times was instituted by Lincoln, so I don't really consider it a celebration of murdering natives as much as Columbus Day is, since it touts as its namesake the direct offender. Throughout history Americans have attempted to relate EVERYTHING that is done in some way to the Puritans, the whitest-whites to ever white the land. Despite America being colonized by dozens of different Caucasian ethnicities and being populated with a myriad of indigenous peoples, for some reason (i.e. xenophobia) Americans have traditionally considered everything in their culture as having been founded by Anglo-Saxon New England Puritans, rather than Germans or Quakers or Maryland Catholics or Dutchmen or French or Irish or so on and so forth.
Yes, it is a myth that the first Thanksgiving was a happy sit-down with our Native American friends. But it also a myth that the modern day of Thanksgiving has much to do with the Puritans in the first place. Basically the lies were created because of the lie that the Puritans are the embodiment of American culture. So, yes, let's "ignore" this to the extent that we quit setting up Miles Standish as our cultural idol in the first place, and we won't have to bother lying to back up the first lie.
