Also, the ending of that one confused me for a second until I realized that the last panels in that one were a flashback. Or mabye they are not and Black Mage just transformed into Chaos 2.0. But would that really happen?

I'm not the only one thinking Disgaea when I see Chaos shrink, right.

I'm so confused! How exactly did Red Mage defeat Chaos!?

Well, he obviously planned this all out.

1. Realizing Sarda was obviously going to become Chaos, he sent white mage to fetch help. This way, if unexpectedly Chaos turned into a giant monster(which he expected), they could fix the problem.
2. Next, he'd buy some time so that the reinforments would arrive in time, completely according to his brilliant plan, so he tricked Chaos into waiting 24 hours.
3. To keep Chaos off-guard, he'd spend the next 24 hours pretending to level up, coming up with brilliant plan after brilliant plan during this time so that his friends wouldn't guess what he was doing either; after all, if you can fool your friends, you can fool the embodiment of all chaos in the world.
4. He'd trick Chaos into letting his guard down by getting him to think about a yummy & tasty world.
5. While Chaos was distracted by confectioneries, the reinforcements he expected white mage to get would trick Chaos into shrinking.
6. He & his companions working under him would then approach Chaos and sneeze his head off, which was now nose level, since elder gods are weak to sneezes & heart attacks.
7. He would be worshiped as a god, acknowledged as the wisest being in all of time, and his doofy red hat would become a fashion sensation, and his father would accept him & his choice of lifestyle.

*waves* Hi! I only been reading 8bt for the past couple of years, and never played FF on the NES when it came out, so when I realised we were reaching the end I downloaded an emulator and played it through.

I can promise you, 8bt is close enough to the game for a *complete* noob to use it to play through completely from scratch and know where to go and what to do next.

He mentioned it, which gave Chaos the idea, which would have made BM right in predicting it in the first place. Sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy. A prophecy the White Mages stomped on, quite brutally. The world could have been swimming in cake, forever (thanks to the time-dilation properties that I just attributed to singularities). But noooo, the White Mages had to prevent that eternal bliss from ever happening.

But yeah, looks like the White Mages are now the true villains. Even Chaos had standards. Thief and Red Mage will use their abilities to effectively prove that Black Mage was right and the White Mages willingly prevented the benefit of the world, thus forcing the females to sacrifice their virginity to BM and the males to Fighter.

By the way, I refuse to believe that Red Mage could set up that elaborate of a plan and act like he wasn't. He'd claim he did, but it wouldn't mean a damn.
