I like that plan, greed. I, for one, an entertained by the idea of Sanji still being a crossdresser but still wholly attracted to women.
A lot of the people I've spoken to are avidly hoping that Sanji's just faking it and will still be the same womanizing 'gentleman' as before. A lot of the people I've spoken to are Sanji fanboys, as well. |

It most definetly hasn't been 2 years. Its been about a year since they've landed at Sabaody Archipelago. And at that point they were still set on NOT going to save Ace, but continuing on their own adventure. It wasn't until they got split and he heard from Hancock that Ace's execution was so close that the focus changed to Ace. And overall, I'd say this story arc is going by MUCH faster than the "save Robin" story arc at Enies Lobby, which easily lasted 100+ episodes (starting from their arrival at Water 7 till they left it). The Save Ace arc is only at about 40 episodes in (and thats if you include ALL of the Amazon Lily as part of "save ace". So one could argue this has been going for all of less than a year.
Overall. I'm very much enjoying where this is all going and the way its developing.

To be fair, I only actually got into One Piece in the middle of this arc, so I was able to read through all the other arcs quite quickly and maybe this one just seems extremely long in comparison to all the others, which I didn't have to wait every week for. But I do count the start of this arc being when the crew got separated, which was September of 2008.
Also, Jagos, remember that the anime has things like filler that aren't necessarily canon; those episodes aired at the same time the cover arcs came out, so the people behind the anime didn't even know about those little bits of plot yet. Franky in a tux was undeniably hilarious, but I won't consider it as having really happened until Oda goes back to them. |

Granted, the entire Hiso-Hiso fruit was pure BS (I mean seriously?! You lose the ability to swim so you can talk to animals? And then Luffy can somewhat do it because he's simple minded? >_<) but mostly, he gets it into the show because he has that many damn ideas. I'm kinda jealous. well, if we go by that standard of Robin meeting Ao Kiji, then the Save Ace fight would also go WAY back when we saw blackbeard and Ace fighting on the island.
Also, in the anime they've only been sepearated since June 2009 so its been less than a year for those of us following just the anime (me).

Really, this flash back doesn't seem like a new arc to you guys? Or, regardless of it being a new arc or not, you guys aren't digging some terrestrial adventure with pirates and bandits and tenryuubito, oh my?
Seriously, adventures in waste management is a breath of fresh air after six months of pure fighting in Marinford.

I dunno if there's ever been an official statement on whether or not the filler episodes are canon, outside of things like Coby and Helmeppo episodes which were expansions on the cover arcs. I actually skipped over the filler arcs (not to be confused with thriller bark), and should probably go back and watch them.
I am liking the break from the endless battling at Marinford, but the only thing I'm particularly curious about in this flashback is, who the heck is this Sabo kid and how does he die? |

my money is a tenryuubito incident. though I cant help worrying about the area he is walking in. Course its completely in Luffy's character to have known about these unquestionable people and for him to simply never have cared
