I'm your friend, Ryong. Watch Chihaya Furu. It's sports anime but instead of being hot-blooded, it's emotionally relatable to anyone who has ever done a competitive team anything.
It also has pretty pictures, really subtle gags, and really unsubtle gags; gags coming in both the visual and and situational varieties. And sometimes it gets trippy, both in the standard "This is based on a shoujo manga thus we must simulate screentones" way and in the more unique to anime "She's talking about poetry and I'm trippin' balls" way. The characters are likable and introduced fairly quickly once the main story begins, including the standard jerk love interest. He's not even that much of a jerk, either! Probably has to do with being voiced by Mamoru Miyano, who cannot voice an unlikable character. Like, I'm making an attempt at standard English and actually explaining things, here. I am trying to sell you on this show because it's really good. It's not an experience like Gurren Lagann or Penguin Drum, but I would almost tell grown adults who don't watch cartoons that it's worth watching. "Almost" because it gets pretty Japanese sometimes, being a show about a Japanese poetry card game and all.

so they... they can leave but they choose to go back but then they don't know how to leave again so they have to reenact history?

Get the names of everyone involved in that on a watchlist so they can't sneak into one of the Squeenix development teams.

Since the other anime thread died out can we use this for other anime happenings than the newest stuff? All my anime watchings are limited to what's on Hulu/Netflix so I'm not really seeing much of the bleeding edge stuff.
I bring this up because I just finished watching Claymore and holy shit, it was fantastic.

I just read this month's Claymore and, Jesus, have we been on this fight for a year already? Just die already; no one cares.

I wouldn't say no one cares. Miria's a gigantic badass and it looks like the fight's going to end with something other than "RAAAAAA MID BATTLE POWERUPS" which is honestly one of my favorite things about Claymore.

Claymore is manga, since the anime was ok until it railroaded the story at The War in the North chapter. You rose my hopes for a proper reboot for mentioning claymore in an anime thread, but crushed them when I realized it's just commenting on the current manga.
Also, it seems like claymore is starting to hit the peak of the level of power possible since now the outrageous battle abilities are around abusing the battlefield or their own yoki. Like, how do you outdo Priscilla vs the twin abyssal tower at that point? |
