I can't comment on Bane as he wasn't in any of the pornos. Batman and Robin bane pretty consistently brought the chuckles though. He got a hard road ahead of him to match such standards. The mouth piece is a good start- I hope it spurts water. |

Saw this for the first time in the theater, I'm honestly just delighted to see JGL so prominently displayed.

Also kind of bummed that Levitt is billed as whoever this John Blake character is supposed to be, instead of Tim Drake or something.

Hmm, well, part of the Ra's Al Ghul thing is you're supposed to think Ken Watanabe is Ra's Al Ghul at first and Liam Neeson being him is a surprise for the end of the movie, so it's kind of like they paid homage to the fact Ra's was Asian in the comics but also wanted their surprised that their new Ra's Al Ghul/Ducard combined character was actually Liam Neeson all along. I know his second decoy was also Asian, so let's assume in the Nolanverse, where people are not actually immortal, the original Ra's was Asian and the legend surrounding him (since unlike in the comics there is presumably no actual Lazarus pits, although now I heard they brought Liam Neeson back and unless it's entirely for flashbacks maybe they decided to actually make the dude immortal) that he is immortal would require that all his modern decoys also be Asian, apparently.
As for Bane, when I put together everything he's said in all the trailers, it seems like he has an accent of some kind, OR his throat is just hoarse from something to do with the mask. I'm not sure. In any case, he's being played by a white guy so let's just assume that Nolan has changed him to a white guy, and isn't having a white guy play a Latino guy or a Middle Eastern guy. Quote:
I'm not saying Bruce isn't broken, probably not just physically but mentally. I'm just saying I think it occurs in the prison in this trailer after he is thrown in there by Bane. And I don't think it's going to culminate in JGL becoming Batman. I think it will be JGL replacing Gordon, since Gordon is shown in a hospital bed in the very first teaser they released. Here's what I think the timeline might be for the movie, going by the trailers and the first six minutes of the movie (so the info is somewhat disjointed and sparse): 1. Bane escapes CIA custody with Dr. Pavel, brings him and the earthquake machine to Gotham. 2. Bruce fundraising and doing political crap along with Gordon. 3. Selina Kyle is a cat burglar who pretends to be a wealthy socialite to get at her marks, because she actually despises the rich and affluent. She meets Bruce Wayne at the fundraiser and tells him that thing about the storm coming. Maybe she is in cahoots with Bane at this point? 4. Bane uses the earthquake machine at the Gotham Rogue's game, revealing himself as Gotham's "salvation". 5. Bruce comes out of retirement as Batman and attempts to stop Bane, but Bane has created an elaborate trap and proceeds to beat the everloving crap out of Batman, who escapes but is crippled in some manner. 6. Gordon tries to stop Bane with the police and Bane publicly snaps Gordon's spine. He then blows up the bridges, cutting Gotham off from the mainland and outside help from the military (let's assume that along with the earthquake machine as a threat to the military to keep them from intervening, since he has Tumblers he probably also has some surface-to-air missiles, maybe, or maybe just his threat to completely level Gotham is enough to keep them from coming in after him). 7. Bane breaks all the prisoners out of the prisons and uses them to create a dystopian society in Gotham. The rich and affluent are dragged out of their houses and imprisoned, along with all the city government officials and police. This is when Bruce, still crippled, is thrown into prison. OR maybe when he is originally beaten up there is a time lapse where he is unconscious and he wakes up in the prison and has his conversation with Bane ("Why didn't you just kill me?", "When Gotham is ashes, then I'll allow you to die" etc.), and finds out what has transpired since Bane took over by being filled in by Alfred. The difference between these scenarios is whether or not Bane knows Bruce is Batman. 8. JGL is now the only law enforcement officer free and he like, I dunno, leads part of the rebellion against Bane or something. 9. Bruce tries to escape the prison and nearly succeeds, but Bane throws him back down into the pit. This may be when he is actually crippled, having at some other point somehow been rounded up with all the rich people (again, the info is so sparse that there are multiple points where Bruce is beaten up). Then perhaps this is when the convo between him and Bane happens (in this scenario Bane has no idea Bruce is Batman). 9. Catwoman at some point helps Bruce and Alfred escape. Again, not sure why, but at some point she is disillusioned with Bane, we know that. 10. Batman and Catwoman team up to take down Bane. JGL assists with the remnants of the police department. Various action sequences. Giant brawl on city hall's steps. Batman saves the day.. Problems with this timeline: 1. I have no idea how Ra's Al Ghul fits into the story. It may alter things considerably depending on if he is alive in the present or only in flashbacks, and with whom (was he Bane's teacher as well as Bruce's?). Also, there are rumors that the female detective character, forget her name, might actually be Talia Al Ghul. So again, I don't know where that would fit into the story. 2. Bruce is obviously crippled at some point, but is it in the initial fight with Bane, or while he is escaping from prison, or at some other point? 3. There are clearly other details that are important, such as what exactly are the weapons Bane has at his disposal and what his actual goal is. In my mind it is to destroy Gotham's society and create his own version of it, punishing the rich and decadent for their crimes by imprisoning them. Phew. So that is what I think is a loose story arc. What do you think about my timeline/problems with the timeline? EDIT: BTW, how many of you have seen the first six minutes of the movie that was in IMAX? I thought it was a pretty impressive opening, easily as exciting as the bank robbery from The Dark Knight. So maybe that will liven up your hopes a bit?
