Spoilers
I don't know why people would assume that Knives is dead. Vash had already decided to take care of him at the end.

. . . Vash doesn't kill Knives at the end of the show, unlike what people think. I don't know about the Manga. But its pretty clear he doesn't kill Knives.

It wouldnt make a whole lot of sense, either. If he cried for a week about killing a man who made him do it, imagine him if he killed his own brother.
Cartoon network didnt show the real final credits, with Vash walking through the desert, carrying Knives, but in those credits it did call Knives by "Millions Knives".

I have a quick question, which is by the way a SPOILER.
What exactly is Vash? I mean he bleeds and gets drunk, but he can control machines and his arm transforms into a gun...maybe I missed something. And no I don't want to hear about manipulated genes, I don't think genes allow your arm to turn into an energy weapon. |

. . . Well, from what I remember from the TV show, he was sappose to be a type of Alien. Not in the sense that he was some wierd slug guy in a human disguise, but he just wasn't part of the group that landed from the crash from that past (as in, all the other people). I do believe they said he was really old at sometimes (probably Knives). Something like 300 years or something? And He and his 'brother' Knives had something happen to them so they had to grow up again. Um, gonna need someone who has seen the show recently to explain the rest/what I got wrong.

Spoiler. Yay.
. . . . . . He was created by people. He's a plant, actually... you know, one of those things that power all the cities etc. in the world. That's one of the reasons that Knives felt that people had to die, because people lived off of 'our blood'. That's also why Vash was able to communicate with the plants in a few episodes and 'fix' them.

Major Spoiler
. . . . . . . hey update on the angel arm (gun that his arm turns into) the gun is formed by the combination of his revolvers "secret power" and his own power due to the fact that he's a plant. Knives created both revolvers to be used in this way but as we all know Vash decided he didn't want to. That is why Vash's arm turns into a gun MWAHAHA a most powerfull gun another spoiler knives also created the guns to be used as tools to rid the world of the "human infection". hence Vash shot his leg and ran like a girl. yours truly Sesshomaru master of many animes

yet another spoiler. get used to it
ok thanks, some of the episodes I got were "fan-subbed"....don't really need to say more. By the way it didn't really look like Vash's was more powerful, they were actually even-matched (the whole ying-yang thing, guess who was black?) that's why it ended in them shooting each other with bullets. This led to a better ending as Vash didn't vaporize Knives . Although on second thought... |
