Furthermore, destroying even one block connected to a wide area of such sand can cause a massive cave-in, not just the one column sinking. I've actually killed myself by making the mistake of destroying a single such block from below and bringing the whole roof down on myself.

thats why you should always make a 3x3 area of just torches underneath the thing. because when sand lands on a torch that is on the ground it becomes producible block form.

We have a perfect example of the roof deathtrap right inside the east entrance of the northern mine. I'd manually take measures to prevent it myself but it extends to several rooms and is probably very deep.

We could always mine that section bare, then seal off and trigger a cave-in in that spot.

EDIT: I noticed that the IP changed but I still can't connect. Is it up yet or is the change in anticipation of the server being up?

crap, wierdest thing just happened to me. I was digging a mineshaft, simple 1x1 with ladders, when a chicken fell down it. weird thing was it then grabbed onto my character and began flying me up the shaft.

managed to get atleast part of it recorded though

if you hit it a few times it drops you, sadly I already hit it before I recorded so it died when I tried again
