Well, for all hoping for Balthier, it seems he's out: http://community.livejournal.com/ffc...59.html#cutid1
They got his Japanese VA for Laguna, so unless he's pulling a double role (unlikely in this production), we're only going to have one fabulous man with a gun.

If i'm getting this right, this time around they are playing with the characters memories to swap around Some heroes and some Villains, right?
That could explain... somewhat... the lack of more villain characters. I loved the original Dissidia and this one actually seems capable of being even better |

Laguna is confirmed to be firmly in the Cosmos camp, though. They described him as being the team "big brother."

From the trailers and info so far, WoL seems conflicted and out too... In the First Dissidia a lot of the Villains were with Chaos for a "lack of options" this time it seems they are mostly in the middle.
Lightning too seems less than 100% with Cosmos. So i think this time the "Goody Goody" heroes like Onion Knight, Bartz and Firion are more like second tiers to the story. |

Lightning isn't against working for Cosmos so much as she's not happy about being lassoed in in general. She seems to eventually warm up to the idea enough to call people traitors, so yeah. Edit: Just got in a batch of Laguna info! http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/L...Loire/Dissidia

We've got NEWCOMER GAMEPLAY! We see clearly how their moves work, their EX-Mode/Burst and also, the Assist Characters, be it offensive or defensive assistance.
EDIT: On an entirely unrelated note, I like Final Fantasy VIII's music this time around.

Holy shit, Laguna for God Tier. Calling it now. Lightning barely even got a hit in.
I love the remix of FF12's Esper Battle, too. That Vaan vs Tifa fight was really great all around. I might spend a lot of time as Vaan, pending confirmation that 1) his moves aren't really weird (like Bartz's were) and that 2) his VA isn't too horrible. "Too horrible" is a relative term yeah but it's also the reason I stopped playing Zidane. FLY AWAAAAAAAY too slow FLY AWAAAAAAAY too slow too slow too slow |

Tifa confirmed for no bra and horrible back problems later in life.
I really shouldn't be this surprised to see a jiggle mechanic introduced with Tifa joining the cast.
