Yeah, and the reason I didn't read 8-bit theatre was because the graphics in the comic were bad.

That is a perfectly legitimate reason not to read a sprite comic. This is an actual flaw in the sprite comic format.

Anyway, the moment you take a big ol' dump on Calvin and Hobbes is basically the moment everyone who ever calls you a tool automatically becomes right.

Edit: And like, are you seriously trying to justify someone using a piece of carpet as "lesbian bait" as being just some good ol' fashioned "stupid humour?" I mean, it's not even a very funny joke. "OH I GET IT! IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE LESBIANS LICK A LOT OF CARPET AND RAYNE IS DUMB (except ultimately, he is portrayed as charismatic and intelligent, and doesn't seem to face consequences for being dumb) HAHAHAHAHAHAHA." He might as well be making jokes about black people stealing bikes. And nearest I can tell, that's basically par for the course with this guy. This is the literal extent of his sense of humour.

Edit 2: And I mean, you say it gets crude sometimes?. Lets leave aside the fact that "distasteful" and "crude" are hilariously understating what is like, not even a full degree removed from that 30s Mickey Mouse comic where Mickey beats up a gay guy, and just take a look at the ratio of that kind of shit to everything else he writes, 'cause from what I'm seeing, the prejudicial stuff takes a huge lead.

Meh, I just chocked it up to pointless drow evil being pointlessly evil. Given the evil nature in general of their society (which really doesn't make any sense, when given the least amount of thought), it's unsurprising that he'd be enamored with his work enough to engage in such cruelty. It's not like we're left to the impression that the Black Mountain doesn't see such cruelties every day. Besides - she was a queen. He doesn't get to take care of that very often. The thing I find bizarre, however, is how little she bleeds when he does so. I would have expected her to die just from the flaying, but apparently nope: just white patches for some reason. Yes, its evil and terrible. That doesn't surprise me, however, anymore. We've seen too much under there for it, I think.

As far as LICD: look, the guy is clearly terrible, and this doesn't exactly change him - like at all. It's him doing the exact same thing he's always done, so I don't know why this particular arc upsets more than others. It's just as terrible as he's always been. That's why I stopped reading it so long ago.

Like you can't pull the "well it's like that because Rayne is dumb" when the narrative does everything in its power to justify his actions. Homer Simpson is an example of a character who is kind of funny when he does ignorant things because the joke is that Homer Simpson is dumb. When Homer does something ignorant and stupid, we see that it is ignorant and stupid. He can get away with some things, but we're never given the impression that say, it would be okay for Homer to fuck Mindy at a hotel because THAT'S OUR HOMER LOL. When Rayne does something stupid, the universe contrives to make it okay because this is the author's self insert fantasy.

Like LICD would be an atrociously awful comic if it were only about an shallow dimwitted asshole doing shallow dimwitted asshole shit but LICD goes the extra mile of turning around and explaining how being a shallow dimwitted asshole ACTUALLY makes Rayne Sohmer a huge-hearted saintly genius and Friend to All God's Creatures.

I'm not so sure. I mean, I grant that it's possible, but I think it will be something more along the lines of what happened with Azure City - I don't think it'll be "Azure, take again", but I suspect that it'll be somewhat similar in that it won't be a direct mutli-way slugfest so much as temporary alliances and something bringing someone else down. It's curious: much like the 8-Bit Theater crew, I've yet to see OotS accomplish something without large amounts of collateral damage and/or some local institution being highly shaken and/or falling, that I can recall.
