He heartily fucked the series with the fifth book.
He died before he could finish his next book, which was going to be the Third Dirk Gently Book (if only...*sigh) or the Sixth HitchHiker Book That Was Going To Ignore The Fifth. But the series proper was finished.

Chris Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor in the new Doctor Who. It's not a series-ruiner for me, but I think his portrayal had some problems that kind of got overlooked in the storm of "ZOMG new Who".
Lemme try to explain. When, say, Tom Baker does something kinda spontaneous and crazy in a story, well, he can totally get away with it, 'cos it's completely natural to him (seriously, check out some of the stuff he's written, like the Baker's Dozen archives at his messageboard. If he's not actually weird like that, then he gets a hell of a lot of practice at faking it. Either way, he's pretty awesome). When Chris Eccleston does "weird and spontaneous", I get the feeling he only does it when the script cue reads "The DOCTOR does something weird and spontaneous". He's a damn good actor; I think he just wasn't quite crazy enough to do the role of the Doctor justice.

It's been a year, and I still fucking HATE johhny Cash.
I also hate my own birthday, which is today and plan to sulk throughout, and ruin everyone else's day by ruining their plans to make mine something they would consider enjoyable, but I wouldn't... I also thought Stranger than Fiction was half-assed, and ruined by Dustin Hoffman's performance. yeah, that's all I can concentrate hard enough to complain about.

Things I Find Overrated or hate:
Hollywood Politics Religion More overrated things: FF7 Earth Bound Way too much anime to count. Harry Potter books and movies. Gaia Online Things I Hate: All of the above. Reasons for most of the above: - Why should I care about anyone else's lives? What they wear? Who they're going out with? What drugs they were taking? Damn, you don't see a film crew coming to my house or following me around everywhere and reporting what I do. Are our lives not interesting enough so we have to go and find out what other people are doing? (E! I'm looking at you.) - Politics, we fuss over such small things making them huge topics of controversy only to find out in the end there was a much simpler solution and we should have left it alone. -Religion, I won't state my entire reason because it's way too long. I absolutely find it to be the worse thing man has ever created and because of it so many wars have started and so much blood has been shed. Instead of making their own decision, people instead turn to their beliefs and make it based on what their religion tells them to think or say. -FF7, yeah... usually for the same crap everyone else said. I don't find it all too interesting. It's a generic RPG plot and the characters are just as generic. There's an energetic hero with a sense of justice, a big guy with an attitude, a man with a dark mysterious past, a female love interest, and a young annoying girl(or boy) who comes in handy every once in a while. -I can't really find much of a reason to call it what I do... but yeah, too many people have hailed it as a great game. -Anime stands where it does... if you want proof go to the *coughhackcough* Gaia Online forums. and look for yourself in their RP section. NOTHING original. -I never even bothered with the HP books. As good as people said they were, I could never open one and be disappointed with another generic 'good beats evil' plot with a character who's famous because of their 'past deeds or run ins'. -I say Gaia Online because well... it's a hell hole of spam and mediocre threads I mean.... even fourchan(yeah I have to say it this way) has a little variety every now and again. |

Hmm. I personally think you have to ignore a lot of things in FFVII to call it 'overrated' - But alas! That is another thread topic.
I'm gonna go ahead and say that the geekiness of roleplaying itself is actually highly overestimated, becuase it's more or less just developing charecters and storylines which is what writers and other normal folks do anyway. The math makes it geeky, but it's just not that weird. Also; Quote:

Actually, I have another thing to add to this list.
Apple Pie. Everyone rants about how it's sooo amazing and sooo delicious, but I eat it and it tastes like...apples, with some cinnamon. If I WANTED apples with some cinnamon, I would god-damn go and put some cinnamon on an apple, and eat that!
