Right now the minimum recommended is 1GB of RAM, I think. But they're wanting to get it running on netbooks, so who knows.

IIRC they're planning some sort of specific netbook edition.

Really, why have only 512 Megs of RAM anyway? RAM is cheap nowadays.

It's not uncommon for netbooks as they're generally heavily skewed towards size/affordability over performance.
It wouldn't be so much of an an issue except the other thing with some netbooks is they're supposed a bitch to even change out the ram on your own.

True. Also, just because it's 1 Gigs of RAM right now doesn't mean it won't drop for the final release. Always good to overshoot the requirements in a Beta, incase there's some weird issues that might make the less decked out computers nigh impossible to run.

I've been able to run Firefox in a 12MB RAM environment, but having to try and run an entire OS under half it's minimum, I just wanted to make sure.
Despite RAM being cheap, there are lots of people who can't afford even that at the moment. So I'm trying to conserve while check out this new environment. |

Dude, for frick's sake, you're in no way going to be able to run this stuff, you can barely use what you have now. Learn to use what you -do- have before you start even thinking of hitting up this OS.
