I see what your getting at Pyros, but I'll leave it to TH since he's the one who's iffy about it. Hopefully it'll all be smoothed out with little to no changes required.

Also thanks for cooperating Phoenix.

I would like to point out that the vast majority of the world is covered in sand now. . .wheels would be impractical even if Fei..eerrr...Translucent agreed to them.

Thanks, Sands. Nice to see you again. too.

Last time I used this character, I stated that he "crawled from the end of the world", and neither GM perceived that as metaphor or that he came from a place that was at the end of the world, instead presuming that I was saying he has been around since the apocalpyse.

He's pure bad luck, plain and simple, and the destruction of these towns is not that he walks in and starts blowing up the place, but that his presence instigates things. A nobody, who easily slips into town, and after several actions, the town is thrown into discord and he leaves almost namelessly, onto the next town.

As for the slits, it's a natural eye condition for people who have eyes that are mis-proportioned or somewhat large, not any sort of mutation or magical happyness. It looks cool some of the time, friendly the rest of the time, but when he opens his eyes and gets sand in them, it hurts!
Please don't think I'm trying to be a smart-alec by what I say next.

But this concern would have never come up if you had just said, "Think of Vash the Stampede." Or atleast that's the vibe I'm getting from your post. Okay, I'm willing to confirm it, if you go back and firm it up abit. Instead of it being so opaque, clear it up abit, or better yet.

On that note, let's try and be a little more unique with our characters. I know I'm also guilty of it, but I tried to stay away from direct references to anime or games in my own. An homage/tribute to a character from an anime/manga/game is all well and good, but uniqueness is great as well.

And finally, remember, in the end, as the person who came up with the RP, I have final veto on what can and cannot be done in this RP. When I veto something, that is that. I am sorry if this comes off wrong to some of you.

Naturally, Arcanum. To Dx2, we'd already gone over why wheels work exceptionally on sand, it's merely a setting choice to exclude them.

To TH, would you rather I/we not cite sources of inspiration? I like doing that merely because it gives an impression or reason why something has precedent for existing given the material in question. Your setting for example, smacks of Fallout and Frank Herbert's Dune, but I don't call you on it, because I can respect that. Post apocalyptic settings lend themselves to post apocalyptic themes.

Pyros, I don't want someone in this RP who will just run his/her mouth in another thread regarding the happenings of this thread. You could have cooperated, you could have been more lenient, but if you're just going to go complain in another thread then you can take your business out of this thread as well.

Your sign-up is denied until I think you can play nice. Have a good day.

I know I know! What a hilarious pun and shakespearean reference. You've said not to show our sources, so I won't. She is a fusion of two particular things however, and if you knew what they were, I'd love you.

Name: Madame Auverdun
Gender: Female
Age: 43
Race: Mutant
Affiliation:
The Bardic Lycea
The Lycea collects stories. The Lycea spreads stories. The Lycea believes that for the world to be healed mankind must be united in a common goal, to that end they must have a shared mythology, a shared history. The Lycea are doctoring this history amongst the myths and heroic tales they collect and edit to their own ends.
A loosely connected network of performers and academics.

Physical Description:
Madame Auverdun is monstrous. She is well over eight feet tall, with a width half that. Small black eyes, overshadowed by a beetling brow are often hidden by a tumble of thick, cable-like hair. Her heavy body sits on legs that are treetrunk thick, the left ending in the splayed toes of a bird. She clothes herself in a musty cloak, cut inexpertly from the thick fabric of a survival tent. Her skin is swarthy, pock-marked and covered with scars and stitches. Her hands are uneven sizes, she has one thumb hooked and hard like a crab’s claw. A cluster of talons, or teeth, has budded along her back. She will remove them once she finds the time, and a mirror of suitable size to see clearly what she’s doing. Her humanity is unmistakable though, marred as it is, by the growth of strange tissue. She appears in excellent health, almost glowing with vigour and good humour.
Her speech is elegant and beautiful, mismatching the owner entirely.

Abilities:

Beneficial Mutation:
The Madame is preternaturally strong and resilient. She consumes large amounts of food and liquor by preference but seems perfectly able to survive on greatly reduced rations. Her body has a great ability to repair itself, provided it is assisted with stitching and care. She feels pain and extreme conditions less than other people and has an unnerring sense of direction.

Surgical Savant:
The Madame has an intuitive knowledge of anatomy and medicine. Her hands are suprisingly nimble. Adept at working with sub-par facilities, and without even the hint of sterile equipment she is pretty much a saint to the peoples of the sand. The limit of her skill has yet to be tested, she has severed gangrenous limbs and sewn alien flesh in its place.

History:
Auverdun was born to almost normal parents. Marred by only a few deficits (her mother a crown of feathers, her father a mishapen pelvis) they were very upwardly mobile amongst the disenfranchised tent-community of the more severely mutated. They often talked, when Auverdun was small and not yet warped by her erratic genome, of disguising themselves and becoming members of a wholly Normal community. This plan was derailed when Auverdun began to display the outward marks of a corrupted genetic history. She grew unevenly and abnormally large. She was stronger than she should have been, and much uglier than they would have hoped. Her mutations seemed random, she would grow hooves, or eyes or vestigal wings from the bulk of her body. At the same time though, she knew how to remove them, how to patch over the skin where she cut them off. Somewhere in her blood flowed the knowledge of a savant.
She could survive in much harsher conditions than normal men, and her skill with a scalpel and a needle and thread made her invaluable. She became a travelling surgeon, trucking herself through the desert between remote communities. She was more than a match for anyone she encountered in the waste and left them broken in the sand, or, collected the parts that would keep for the good of the community.
She was a jolly, indominatable woman, but fixing injuries wasn’t enough. Too often she’d arrive too late, or not even hear that she was needed until infection or shock had run its course. She needed a greater purpose. That was when she was approached by the Lycea.
Now she travels through the sands, collecting stories and myths. Her skills as a healer win her a privelleged place wherever she stops, earns her enough trust to win the choicest stories and to ensure those she tells will be repeated.

Items: A hacksaw. A kit of handmade surgeon’s equipment; bone needles, thread as fine as she can get, something approaching antiseptic and the proper restraints for a patient. A heavy rawhide book, writing equipment. A pack laden with food.

Notes: Madame Auverdun is actually a degenerated throw-back to a biologically engineered field-medic for use by a long destroyed army. Her purpose is wired into her genes. The tendency to sprout abberant limbs and growths is a corruption of her intended ability to grow replacement limbs and organs for injured troops.

This isn't like Dune or Fallout. Stop trying to make it conform to them.

Lumas ~ I have no clue what those two things are. I am sorry you don't love me.

You're right, a sci-fi world consisting entirely of a desert owned by petty nobility after nuclear fallout destroyed most life, leaving survivors in deep underground bunkers to once more enter the world living from salvaged technology has absolutely no resemblance to either of those things. At all. It's not like it's an almost perfect amalgam of the two settings or anything.

I mean, there's no spice, and it was bunkers, not vaults, right?

And, respectfully, stop picking on my concepts then? I said it was like those two things, and it is similar to those things, empirically and undeniably, in the same way "Armored Core" is similar to "Gundam" because both have flying mecha. (/Comparison off) You seem to think that liking something enough to mildly influence your concepts is bad or something. Remember, we roleplay for enjoyment, not to childishly posture at one another.

I like those elements, and that's why I'm interested in this, it's not meant to be downputting. I had high hopes this could be an enjoyable roleplay, but given the level of hostility I've recieved from a few of the people here, even after having a few private words with Arcanum about it, I regretfully have to withdraw. It is my opinion that one cannot adequately and enjoyably participate in a story when there is a palpable level of enmity between new and old blood.

Ok honestly can we just stop accusing people left and right of stealing/copying ideas. Let's face it, it's damn hard to be creative and unique today. Everyone get's inspired by something, which makes things that are similar all to common. I don't know how many times that it's happened to me where I thought I had an amazingly unique idea, and it turned out someone else had it first.

Yes ES is similar to Fallout, but it has it's differences. (I can't really say anything in regards to Dune since I never got into it.) It's different enough to be it's own thing. Like Phoenix said "Post apocalyptic settings lend themselves to post apocalyptic themes." So please, everybody, if something is similar to something else, just let it slide. Yes this is ment for you too TH.

I want this RP to run smoothly without everybody at everyone else's throats. It would be appreciated if there were no more finger pointing. Unless of course you're just mentioning the similarities with a positive note. Such as if someone can let me know where Lumaes drew inspiration since I have no idea and it's eating away at me.

On that note, Lumaes your character is accepted. Also it's a very interesting choice, a mutant with defective mutant genes. Kudos to you.
