Or... that codex image is of a Husk Prothean. It certainly looks husk-ified with the blue nodes and eyes.

Or maybe all the different shapes of Protheans we've seen so far are simply different forms of the same species. Or maybe "Prothean" (which is a name the current races gave them, by the way) was really just a name for the society. One original Prothean race, and then slave-, and/or associate races.

It wouldn't be too different from the Council, if you think about it.

It is also explicitly stated that whatever "we" know of the Protheans is just the tip of the iceberg.
There is only speculation in regards to the Protheans, and certainly what they look like.

Or! Bioware had no plans originally to have living Protheans pop up anywhere, so they just pulled the current design out of their asses.

Man, what the fuck is up with Bioware anyway? How can they say humans look like this, when they're clearly mermaids with harp tails, and thin, elongated necks? How do they expect us to take Shepard seriously when his appearance clearly goes against established canon?

Human husks still look way more human than that "Prothean" husk looks like the Prothean Squadmate.

So a bunch of social events got cancelled this weekend for me. It has freed up my schedule completely and the notion of marathoning both games to ready for the third has become an option.

I'm WAY too eager and okay with sitting in my man-cave for 60 hours instead of out interacting with human beings.
