I like the concept of the reports, but I wish they had been done a little differently. Hitting square to highlight words that send you into new story sequences... uh, kind of awkward. Especially because some of them are cutscenes and the others are battles.

I gotta say, I don't hate the voice acting as much this time around either. A few of the characters are still pretty terrible (zidaaaane) but most of the new cast is pretty decent, and a lot of the standouts from the first game get a lot more screentime now.

Still wish there was an option to, say, turn off repeated quotes. "TOO SLOW! TOO SLOW! TOO SLOW! TOO SLOW! YOU'RE NOT GETTING AWAAAAY!" Fuck Zidane.

You know, Vaan is actually kinda interesting to play... His crossbow attack can be a PAIN to fight agenst though.

So I've started trying my hand at Tifa bcuz boobz lol.

Her feint ability is pretty neat, if a little awkward at first. I can't help but feel like X wasn't the most ergonomic button they could have chosen for this mechanic, but an alternative such as maybe L+R like Lightning uses for her paradigm shifts probably wouldn't be much better. There's also the notable downside of the ability being designed more to fake out human opponents, making practicing it against button-reading AI something of an uphill battle, but it's still pretty cool to watch when it works as intended.

The other major setback I'm having at the moment is that my level gain on her seems to be outpacing AP gain (compared to Laguna and Yuna who got the Bonus Day treatment during story mode, maxing out their abilities left and right in no time), so I'm unable to slot her full available range of abilities just yet, limiting my options more than I'd like in the meantime.

The other day I managed to nail a feint-Burning Arrow in order to dodge Razor Gale. Bliss.

But yeah, Tifa's definitely not optimized for AI opponents. At best, you can use her like a crappy version of Tidus. At worst... you'll face Exdeath who will guard-counter every attack anyway.

I'm enjoying Prishe a lot more than I thought I would. The skillchain concept is neat, but I just enjoy the fact that you can, say, have Backhand Blow--> Combo as one attack, and then Backhand Blow-->Backhand Blow as another. I just wish her HP attacks didn't suck so much...

I've been watching some of the cutscenes triggered by Reports (on Youtube), and some of them are hilarious.

Such as anything with Laguna, and Cecil the matchmaker.

I'm thinking he's going to be my next project after I get Tifa leveled up. Maybe with a CoD assist for good measure.
