NAME: Elle Vanar
DESIRED RANK: Master Chief Petty Officer POSITION: Chief Engineering Officer SPECIES: Cardassian AGE: 56 APPEARANCE: Elle stands 5 foot, 4 inches tall, with the typical grey Cardassian tone. Her hair is short, simple shoulder-length; once jet black but beginning to whiten in places. She has bright, blue eyes. BIO: Elle spent the first years of her life an orphan on the streets of Cardassia Prime, where she tricked and variously bullied other children for what little food could be had. Her ruthlessness caught the eye of a somewhat eccentric Cardassian who adopted her. Under the care of this surrogate father, Elle grew a somewhat traditionally Cardassian love of learning, particularly for the neat efficiency of machines, and she took to the rigid structure and mental training exceptionally well, no doubt due in part to the newfound lack of starvation. Elle’s eagerness and her adoptive father’s goals continued to progress as Elle found herself being groomed for a position within the Obsidian Order. Elle served in the Obsidian Order for many years as a general operative and technician. She sought to live up to the principles taught to her in her upbringing, and serve the Cardassian government through most of this time, but soon came to hear the arguments and reasoning of the growing number of malcontents in Cardassia and began to question the worth of the Cardassian government. However, knowing the power of the Obsidian Order, there was little to be done for it. However, when the Dominion came to Cardassia, and unrest among the Obsidian Order increased, Elle seized the opportunity. Posing as an attempt to use the Federation against the Dominion, Elle took up the identity of Elle Vanar, a Cardassian military engineer, and defected to the Federation. Using information from the Obsidian Order, and her memory of earlier service, she attempted to guide the Federation’s efforts against the Dominion. However, as the Obsidian Order deterrents against the Dominion failed, and the Obsidian Order collapsed, Elle found her worth as an informant diminish. At this time, she was taken in by an acquaintance -- Captain Morgan -- and acted as his advisor for the remainder of the war, providing what information she knew about Cardassian military members, tactics, and equipment. When the war finally ended, and Elle finally found herself with no homeland to speak of, and little in the way of allies save Captain Morgan, he brought her on in the provisional rank of Master Chief Petty Officer, “officially” operating in the capacity of his primary engineering advisor. PERSONALITY: Elle is often quiet, enjoying to read, particularly enigma tales—though she has more recently come to read the more disorderly, chaotic works that originate from other civilizations. She’s prone to being sarcastic in conversation, though helpful when she feels it necessary. Rarely, even in matters of importance, does she show any sense of taking things very seriously. She is also very secretive in all matters, important or not, and tends to tell whatever truth she deems important (or at least interesting) at the time.

Jen and KP are approved and, despite only having a name, rank, age, species, and one racially stereotypical personality trait, Jen is the ship's second officer.
Cronyism in action!

I'd like to apply if possible as a not-quite-red-shirt. But I'll take any position:
Name: Keris Ando Race: Bajoran Age: 22 Desired Position: Security/Tactical Officer Desired Rank: Lieutenant JG Description: Stands at a full 6'4. Has a medium defined build. No visible scars or markings. His earring hangs off his left ear. Green eyes, with cropped brown hair. History: Not straying too far from the stereotyped Bajoran, Lieutenant Keris possesses many of their ever present attitude. Rigid belief in the Prophets and their divine way, undertoned distrust of all things Cardassian. However, he has strayed far from others of his race. With the end of the Cardassian Occupation, Ando took the opportunity to get as far from his homeworld as possible. He joined the federation, and enlisted in starfleet. Using his knowledge of combat and tactics as a background, he fell in line with many students in the field of tactical operations. His first assignment was as a cadet upon the USS Prominence, a Miranda class vessel. However, his ship was one of the first to respond to the Dominion Wars, and one of the first to be destroyed. He spent some time back in Cardassian custody along with fellow crew members. Due to this, he regrettably missed most of the action against the Dominion, and was released when the war was over. Not having participate in the Dominion War, he found himself behind in both experience and rank to those classmates of his that had survived. However, during the Borg attack that nearly wiped the Federation out, he had valorously served aboard the USS Revelation. This service saw him promoted to Lieutenant JG, and one step closer to catching up to his friends. It was a sad day for him when the Revelation was decomissioned and added to the mothball fleet. He waves goodbye to old comrades, in time to recieve orders and a new transfer. Personality: Uncharacteristically positive. The proverbial "silver lining" believer. Having followed Kai Opaka's teachings to his core, Lt. Keris believes that all things happen by the will of the prophets, and that even the darkest night ends with the first light of the rising sun. |

Tyr is approved.
I'd say we have a large enough cast at this point, but I'm hesitant to altogether close registration as of yet, as there were a couple others who expressed interest early on that I'd be willing to allow. I'll get things going in a couple days, though. There's some story elements that I still need to hammer out.

I'm out, I got in pre-trouble (warned) about too much net use at work, so I'm cutting down to stuff that I can do in my lunch times...

Incidentally, when this becomes apparent, if you'd like to take on different role or simply an additional one, we may be able to work something out. There are some non-crew characters that could always stand to be played by someone other than me.

I don't think I'm going to have enough free time to dedicate to this RP, while juggling other things and trying to finish my own.
So I retract my reservation for Medical Officer, if it hasn't already been grabbed. |
