Does anyone know of a good self-teach system to expand my knowledge of Latin? I can't afford classes, so I'm looking for books/casettes in which to learn.

Spanish speakers needed! This one's a song text by the great and hilarious German punk band Die �rzte ("the doctors"), and it's been bugging me for a while:

Like foofmyster, I am also Qu�b�coise and am proud of it, so I'm fluent in French. Also, I'm very fluent in Hebrew so if anyone needs help with that, I would be more than happy to oblige.

Yousabugger, I'm not sure if there is a specific word for track meet, but:

Track (like in a sport): piste
Meet: Rencontre

so I'm thinking it might be Rencontre de Piste, but I'm not certain.

actually according to my french teacher it was "un tournoi d'athl�tisme" but I'm sure there are multiple ways to say track meet.
It probally is rencontre de piste in canadian french (there are some different words and phrases in canadien french than regular french)

Well actually I just directly translated the words into French, I didn't know that "tournoi d'athl�tisisme" meant that. If you directly translate those words you get "an athletic tournament."

Meister! THis is what I made out of that. Roughly translated (in english the words don't rime etc.) it says:

Two harts

You always wanted to be one more
Now your dream is real
sales a escena(I'm not sure) you're immortal
Now you feel sure of your self

You invented your own armor
Your true sweethart
Love that they did not give you
Love only yours
Love only yours
(This last line...Did you write it correctly? It would mean

Love only you, and now

You speak with someone, he's here
Someone honest/pure, only for you
But you know, that he want's more
And you don't comprehend the truth/real thing

You invented your own armor...

You tel him, that he wouldn't do that
He laughes with your voice
You scream,
(Don't know, very roughyl translated this one could mean

You are in pain, and fall in the floor
No one knows what happened
There will be nother hands, another armor
(The first line?) You are immortal

Chile...That explains something. The spanish I know is Spain's spanish not south-merican.

Well, I'm not sure if it's 100% correct since I got the lyrics from some website (I only got the CD from the library and the booklet is merely a fragment), but from hearing, it seemed to be about right. Though "You are in pain and fall in the floor" does sound rather weird. In any case, thanks.

Incidentally, "point" and "dot" both translate to "Punkt" in German... interesting. Kinda.

... and even more incidentally, "Piste" is also a German word describing something one would run down on skis, maong other things. Funny how that stuff works out, innit?

On a sidenote, man, we really need to get that language forum going. I can see it taking right off from the start...
