Dear Ryong,
I'm sorry we don't all like shitty Chrono Cross the way you do. Truly, deeply sorry. Now please just let it go. <3, Fifthie

With Frog, not so much. They really did just throw in the middle english diction half-assedly with no concern for consistency, to the point where I wondered if talking like that was part of Magus' curse.

Hey, I'm just telling you why he spoke that way and how it related to the evolution of the character in the creators' minds. It actually makes sense for Cyan to speak in thous and thees. It's a part of his character, it's done in a consistent manner, and it isn't distracting. The same can't be said for Frog, in my opinion.

I'm complaining at people complaining how a remake of a game they love is being made and then they complain that it has different dialogue because the version they first got had a bunch of things changed. It's the game a lot of people have been asking for. With the characters you all loved to such a great extent that when they died in the sequel, it was bitched at endlessy and proclaimed one of the worst games ever made, but not only for that. So now it's back to what was wanted, but a character talks differently and therefore it's terrible. I'm saying goodbye to this thread because, seriously, I know Fifth behaves like a douche a lot, but I - heck, no one had even mentioned Chrono Cross up to this point and you just went out of your way to make a funny comment on a game that I honestly like and that everyone else honestly hates. |

It didn't make a lot of sense but that didn't matter because it only served to single out frog more as an awesome fellow. |

You see, by turning Glenn into a frog, Glenn suffered severe tongue deformity which affected his speech. It all makes perfect sense.

Maybe the Woolsey translations left with him and they had to reinvent the ones from "back in the day" And really... Frog is the ONLY one in the 600 ad era to talk like that. Either make everyone in that era talk similar and make it seem like the middle ages, or make him speak common tongue or give an explanation for the Thous regarding his tongue on a magical quest to save the kingdom from poison water. Either way, if it doesn't fit, call it a day and say it quits. |

I love how seriously Ryong took Fifth. I giggled.
Looking at some of the points people have made about Chrono Trigger, I can definitely see the other side of changing the voices. I haven't played it for a while. Personally, though, I just feel that the whole Thee Thou Thy thing that Frog had going for him worked really well, and I just haven't heard any good reason for changing it other than "more accurate." If it ain't broke, don't fix it. There's absolutely nothing wrong with him talking that way, so although I did exaggerate my "nerd rage" a bit, I prefer the Middle English speak for Frog. And now I just realized I just spent an entire paragraph saying the same damn thing over and over and over again, all about a game I'm going to play regardless. I feel silly. But I stand by my stance.
