also, just to note on the current manga The Espadas aren't really an organized Bunch. Remember, noon knew about Ulquiorra's "second form". Grimmjow didn't know about Ichigo's mask, nor did Ulquiorra... but we know that Aizen and probably Szazyel Aporro already knew.) It's not unlikely that only Aizen knows about Yammy.

Also, on that same Point... this means that is likely that Zaraki, Unohana, Byakuya and Mayuri will Team-Tag The Zero Espada on the next Chapters! that will be nice

... has that position been named in-comic yet? If so, what word is he using? I don't think there's a word for that in spanish. Unless he's the Cero espada which would be a hilarious little pun.

we can speculate about Vasto Lordes here without Spoiler Tag, because the Anime (jp) already showed the concept and all of the Espadas... plus, it's all guessing. I'm sure Stark is. I bet Wonderweiss is too. And Yammy for sure.

I've never seen anything that's made me think there's a difference between the two, but obviously I might've forgotten something.

All Espadas are Adjucas, only The one Rukia fought was an Superpowered Menos Grande. We haven't met anyone who would be pointed as a clear Vasto Lorde. THe only clear is that an Adjuca is of Average level of a captain, and can grow stronger. But a Weak Vasto Lorder would, basically be on the level of the strongest captains and grow from there.

Espada just means you're one of the ten most powerful Arrancar at a given time - that's why there's a bunch of former Espada running around moping about how they've been replaced like they were month-old iPods.

Vasto Lorde is one of three classifications of Menos Grande* - before Aizen showed up with his magic Arrancar ball, they were the most powerful hollow around. So far we only have Rukia's word for it, but they're supposed to be a bit tougher than "captain-class**." Allegedly there's less than 10 Vasto Lorde, period. They're also supposed to be roughly human sized and generally humanoid, so it's easy to see how you'd get them confused with Arrancar in general.

From what I can tell, the tougher a Hollow was before becoming an Arrancar the nastier they are as Arrancar, so it's my guess that the huge gap between Nnoitora and Ulquiorra is because the top four of the present Espada were Vasto Lorde.

Also I've been re-watching old episodes and holy crap, Rukia was a epic dick to Ichigo before she got arrested. Seriously look at episode 2, it's awesome.

* The other two are Adjuchas, like Grimmjow, and the giant mooks whose name I forget because they're just giant mooks.

Ah, I think I see where I got confused. The anime notes that vasto lordes are more powerful than captain-class shinigami, and that even 10 of them would be enough to overpower Soul Society, and then cuts away to Aizen surrounded by Arrancar, implying that they're the same. (or at least that's how I remember it. Its been a damn long time)

I never really bothered to think anymore about it. Makes sense now.

The limit of not allowing the top four Espada to release within the dome is used by some to support the idea that those four are Vasto Lords. However, it is highly unlikely any of the others are at all, since Aizen has told Gin he still needs to find them to complete the Espada forces needed to take on the Shinigami.

Personally, I think it would be unfortunate if Yammy was a Vasto Lord. He lacks the wit of many of his [more interesting] brethren, notably Ulquiorra, but his recent number change [becoming 0] may show that I am underestimating him.

Wonderweiss remains a mystery. He was with Tosen, but who knows? He's one of those characters that authors can just throw anywhere they need/want to.

The giant mooks are called Gillians. They're faceless, probably nameless, and all identical. But at the time they were introduced, they were a pretty big deal.

As for the any doofus who can bankai comment. Yeah, I agree with you on that one. But note this: how many non-captains can actually do Bankai that we know of? And only Ichigo and Urahara got their Bankai without the centuries or w/e of training; so it's a pretty big accomplishment when you think about it.

Coming back to Menos; it seems that the smaller and more humanoid a hollow is before being Arrancar'd, the more powerful he is, with Vastro Lordes being pretty much just humanshaped and human-sized. Again, stronger then Captain-Class, and it was mentioned that Aizen would be pretty much unstoppable if he turned even a handful of Vastro Lordes into Arrancar.
Unless I'm mistaken, Fracción is pretty much a regression into a form more like the Hollow's original form for extra power, or something like that, right? So the less monstrous a released Arrancar is, the stronger he is.
Of course, even the worthless, not-even-Menos Hollows can be turned into really wimpy Arrancar (*cough*Grand Fisher*cough*)
