Doesn't zsnes offer the option to speed up the game on the press of a button? Because the countless fights sure can drag on. Also, I think if you hold R when selecting battle orders it just lets everyone attack. Maybe it's L.

You know what drags on worse than random battles? Listening to the horrendously horrible stuff that is sped up music.

Yeah I could never butcher the Lufia II music like that. Plus it'd be kind of annoying.

As great as the music may be, fighting the same damn monster for the whateverxillionth time is, in my opinion, a good bit more annoying, like it was the case in the Ancient Tower.
But maybe that's just me, since the first thing I get bored of in any JRPG are the battles. Except in Persona Games and SMT Nocturne for whatever reason.

Thats because you are too busy going "Shit! SHIT! NOOOOO, NOT HAMA! NOOOOO, YOU MUDO USING FUCKERS!" to get tired of fighting the same enemies.

It might be that or the games force you to do other things than just attack, making the battles slightly more interesting. For me at least.
In contrast to Lufia, where I always only rushed through the dungeons, only fighting monsters that directly blocked my path, so I can beat the boss already. That made the boss fights less boring because my Level was lower than it usually would have been. But yeah, if you don't want to hyperspeed through the battles I don't mind. I just thought it might be nice to have the possibility to quasi-skip the third fight against the same monster in the same room for NonCon who's actually playing the game. Me? I'm just watching.
