Jal completed his backflip, landing in a crouch, just in time for the galkan's harpoon to fly over his head. It embedded in the other wall and soon Wedge was zipping over his head as well, grabbing Biggs in an obvious retreat.
Turning toward Prasad, Jal readied himself for a dash until the moogle spoke and backed away, holstering his weapons. The interlopers, well all but one, were down. Jal spun his daggers about once before sliding them back under his cloak and away and was about to turn to Jade when his theif-stincts went off. "...They must have a buyer..." he realized outloud as he dashed a few feet after Wedge and Biggs, stopping near the entrance to the room. "You forgotten the traps!?" Jal shouted to them. "You think you can make it past those statues in your condition?! How about the arrows?! I could get you past them safely!" his voice dropped a bit, as he whispered to himself, "...for a price..." a grin playing over his face that would almost certainly spell out that he had a plan. "Leave your weapons and come back! We can all have a nice little chat!"

"Gahh!" Bullets hurt, and Ralts just learned that the hard way. Fortunately for him, his lesson didn't last long, as the white mage in the group had his back. Ralts briefly turned his head back, "thank you friend, that could have ended badly."
He then turned his head towards the moogle, who was now alone as the two Galkas had wised up and were fleeing the battle. Quote:
"How about we cut," he then drew his sword from its sheathe, "a deal with you, we take the relic and anything else valuable, and you get the hell out of here." He then heard Jal's attempts at gaining money from the fleeing Galkas. It would honestly be easier to let them be killed by the traps, and then loot their corpses, but it twas to late, Jal had already warned them. "The same deal goes for you two also!" he yelled as he moved towards the rooms entrance, hoping to close it off the the moogle. He then remembered what they had said earlier, something about grave robbers. That meant either these two were guarding a tomb, unlikely since they got caught by a trap, or they themselves were grave robbers! "We aren't grave robbers, we just want the relic in this place, let us have it and we'll let you survive!" He called towards them, trying his best to get their agreement, if it didn't work, then murder would be the only option, which wasn't too bad, Ralts' clothes were already colored like blood. --- move medium distance towards the door. "Yeah," Wedge yelled, not moving from his spot. "The whole, 'drop your weapons' thing isn't really going to happen. Not while you guys still have yours.
"Actually," he continued, glancing over to the spellcasters. "I don't intend to drop mine even if you guys drop yours." Despite his confidence, though, Wedge knew that Jal had a point. While they had figured out how to handle those blasted tiles, those damn statues were going to be a pain in the ass to deal with. Last time, they had just run past them - but, Biggs was certainly in no shape to be running. Or moving. Or doing anything at all, really. Nor would Wedge be able to do his little hookshot trick. Not in the darkness. And not with those guys right behind his back. However, Jal seemed to be a man who knew where to find a profit. Though Wedge hadn't heard Jal muttering, it was plain to see what the man was after. "Tell you what," Wedge said. "I know when to cut my losses. You get us out of here, and I'll introduce you to my boss. He'll set you up a fair price for the book." |

"I'm not sure if we can trust these guys," Ralts said to Jal. "Although, we're going to have to leave with them one way or the other, I suggests we follow them for now, and one of us stays ibehind the group with the book, so if we're ambushed, they're less likely to get it."
Ralts then took into account the thief's considerable like for money. "They may be lieing about the money, and we may run into some problems with the guild for selling it to an outside buyer." Ralts then looked around the room behind them, hoping to spot the book so he could make sure the moogle wouldn't take off with it, also scanning for anything important that they may have missed on entrance. --- Awareness check I guess, if necessary |

"I guess I'm willing to believe that if you ignore the cards, the bullets, and the healing of the enemies."
"Oh yes, of course," Prasad rolled his eyes, leaning against the chest, "It's not like you were the one that attacked me or anything after showing up to rob me, seeing as I was here first. Jackass." He then turned his attention to the tarut, softening his disposition a bit as the entertainer's party members worked out their arrangement with Wedge. "Hey, remember what I said to you when you first came in here? Pretty great plan your friends are cooking up, don't you think?"

Bello stopped playing and swung his lute to his back. The dagger slid up his sleeve to wherever he had been hiding it before. "Er, actually, I can't really remember. Sorry." A lot had been happening, like getting shot in the arm and nearly falling prey to an overly enthusiastic Galka. "But, I guess they have a plan. I don't know, they just pay me to be cute and play songs. Not that there's much point to acting cute now." He warily eyed the situation at the doorway. "So, what's your angle, acting all buddy-buddy now? We can't let you guys go with the book, you know. We'd lose our jobs. And these guys," he jerked his thumb at his companions, "aren't much good at anything else."
He considered the strange Mithra. "Well, maybe she can race or something. Can't speak for her." *** Stopped Valor Minuet even though the fighting might start up again at any time because it made sense role-playing-wise.

"And here I thought you tarut were supposed to be smart," Prasad sighed, hopping up on top of the chest and taking a seat, lowering his voice to keep the galka down the hall from overhearing, "You're about to fall for the same trick you guys were probably trying to pull about five minutes ago. The difference between those two guys out there and, let's face it, some of your friends here is that I'm not a murderer, and I'm not the sort to let people get killed just so that I have a shot at paying a debt."
The moogle then leaned forward a bit, grinning from behind the purple pom-pom that was now hanging in front of his face from the shift in weight, "Not that I'm going to work pro bono. Give me a cut of whatever you're getting for what's in the chest and I think I can help you figure out a way to get out of here alive."

Bello slapped his forehead. "Ooh! Ha, yeah, that would've been pretty stupid."
Bello joined the Mog's conspiratorial huddle. "Well, as a fellow flashy-dresser and daring-do-er, I can't say no to the offer." He looked back at his comrades. "'Course, I can't speak for the other guys or their share. They really aren't murderers, they just get a little excited. Still I can't say they'll be happy about paying for your help. Probably won't be happy I'm even listening. Plus, we got that Mithra; I'm not sure what we're doing about her. Hmm..." he struck a dramatic, pensive pose. "How much do you think your help's worth?"

"Well, the first thing you gotta realize is they don't have a buyer so much as they are the buyer, or at least they're working for him," Prasad informed his newfound associate, "I owe their boss 50000 gil--one bet too far, by the way. I was on a fantastic winning streak up until then, I assure you--and we agreed that procuring this particular item for them would kupo my debt. So I'm guessing whatever you're getting paid is chump change in comparison."
He leaned back a bit, glancing a tad nervously toward the corridor, "I figure if I'm going to take a risk on helping you that could result in the very real possibility of me sleeping with the fishes in the near future, it's either for an even share of your take or bust. Something I could potentially invest in some safe wagers to maybe get what I need down the road, you know?"

"Hey, now, what trick? I don't have any tricks. I just smell a profit, and you just confirmed it for me," Jal said as he turned from the Galka toward the moogle, dropping his voice equally. "Speaking of," he turned toward Raltz, "The turncoat has a point. We let them keep their weapons we find them in us... you know, I'm not the best talker, maybe someone else can convince them to surrender?"
He thought for a couple of seconds, before turning back toward the moogle. "SPEAKING of surrender and getting shot in the back, I'm not sure I want to make any deals with you, either, so long as you're still holding your guns. No offense," Jal said with a toothy grin, toward the moogle, "But those guns were just shooting my associate...and..." With one more turn he looked toward the other Mithra, "Who's side are you on? Ours? Theirs? Your own?"
