I have SH:C collecting dust, and figure maybe I'll get Persona when I finish it.. But I have a feeling maybe I should get it while the gettings good, considering the PS2 titles are slowly but surely disappearing off store shelves and starting to generally become harder to find..
I don't own the Shadow Hearts series, but I have seen the first game a bit from an old friend. I can say it's a totally different feel. Maybe Persona 3 would be closer, but Persona 4 is a much lighter affair.

That said, if you're in for a much lighter affair, and a look into the life of a Japanese high school student, it's a great example of a mish-mash that just works, like how on paper, Cowboy Bebop being a mixture of jazz and space opera sounds odd, but turns out to be the best thing ever. Persona 4 mixes exploring generated dungeons with dating sim sequences and some pretty sweet music that splits the difference between J-pop and hip-hop with a bit of jazz that has near-universal appeal, with a heaping dose of world lore ranging from Japanese mythology to Hindu to the Goethe to Kabbalism and more, wraps it up in a serial murder mystery, and populates it with characters that transcend simple stocks most JRPGs use to pad the roster.

The show Psych is pretty funny, I'd recommend that! I think they are on season 4 on TV but seasons 1-3 should be available on DVD by now. I'm hooked beyond all reason.

I have a recommendation, Fifth. I recommend you draw me that avatar I asked for in your other thread. Pretty please?
