Latin was invented by the alien overlords to force us into submission with 'ancient' poems about homosex.

wat Are you seriously comparing Latin (which, at one point in time, was nearly spoken all over europe, had a huge cultural impact, and contributed to forming the basis from which nearly all european languages developed) to Klingon? Just because not too many people speak it today? ... Let me put it this way: Had Latin not existed, our world would be a hugely different place today. Certainly the language we're currently speaking would be very different indeed. If Klingon hadn't existed, a dozen trekkies would've had to find something better to do with their time. Latin is fucking omnipresent, my friend. In everything from the letters you type to the words you say. It's not dead by a long shot, and is certainly more real than any fictional language you'd care to name. ... [/RANT] |

If I had to guess, I'd say that's the joke.

Krylo is obviously joking. I don't think that evilearl is. And besides, I have absolutely NO sense of humor in regards to language. I spent two years (well, three hours per week for two years) learning it; you imply that it's useless, even jokingly, and I'll spend another two years telling you how incredibly, incredibly, OMG IT BOGGLES MY MIND, it's over nine-thousaaaaaand!!!, wrong you are.

You make a big deal about language and then you have to go and butcher it like that. For shame.

Got to go with what Gem has already stated. There is an otherworldly difference between a language that was largely spoken in the past, to a language that was made to accompany a fictional series and has never made true impact upon the world.
Unless... we aren't actually real. |

A modified King Steve could be the Emperor for a FF2 sprite comic. I mean the guy just invades the rest of the world without any explanation. Sounds familiar doesn't it. He was not the most competant villain either.

Name me any country, hell any town, that has Latin as it's official language. The only uses of it that I see are translating medieval shit, naming elements and adding another language course to colleges.
I you're gonna learn other languages, go with two or three of the predominant ones in today's society and then learn one that pays your bills (C, C++, etc.) With all respect for those who have already learned Latin, I do kinda wish I knew how to speak that so I could confuse the shit out of random pedestrians. That'd be another cool weapon to wield against idiots. |

I really doubt that brian still has an interest in 8-bit. So the odds of seeing an 8-bit 2 even based on FF2 is very slim.
