Not confusing at all...
But I'm not blaming christianity as a religion for this problem... I'm blaming the people who say "hey, this guy sounds like a stand up fellow, let's make him a priest" and then the dude goes on to spend YEARS molesting dozens of people. How does no one notice this? How did someone not take a look at this guy and say "Holy shit, this guy is gonna rape kids, I'm not making HIM a priest.." We have psychological profiles for every other major 'power' positions... Cops, politicians, firefighters, etc...

So, what are you suggesting? The government starts regulating who gets to be a priest? Sounds like a really bad idea to me.

NO! Whoever sits in the church and says "You get to be a priest" should be doing a better job of it

Serial Killers and Rapist tend to stick out from the average joe. It may not seem obvious at first but when you get a lot of information about them, you can make out a psychological pattern. With Pedophilia it can be quite hard to make it out. Pedophiles tend to have lived normal lives without any record of violence or crime (for the most part) and often seem to be active positive members of the community.

At least in terms of the Catholic kiddie-touchers the complaint at the Church itself has less to do with predetermination than its history of covering for the abusers after their actions become known.

They need to regulate positions of power. Things like this wont happen nearly as much if they did.

As for the non denominational church, yeah42, I know what you mean, but for other, denomination churches, it could be. |

The church is the church... SOMEONE has to be there at the top of whatever church going "Person A is going into Position A"... SOMEONE is responsible for placing these people in these positions..
whether it be god, the pope, or someone else...
