Hope for a boy! If you bring it up nerd and it's a girl, you have to get girly things like make-up too! That is, along with video games and manga and all that nerd jazz.
Congrats, and all that! Seriously, I mean it! They're money takers, I tell ya! |

It has begun.
I shall alert the others. The Orici is here. Jesus fuck I'm a Stargate nerd. In all seriousness, congratulations! Go with Alexander, definately; shortens nicely to Alex. Plus, we could always use another for our legion. All hail the Ori!

Congrats! That's so exciting!
I love your ideas for names; Alexander's a cute one. Although I've always thought you would name your first-born after Brian... (Works both ways: Brian or Brianna. C'mon, it's cool. )

I can just imagine the emotional scars that this kid is going to have in 20 years when he shows up here and reads this thread...

Man, eight pages worth of people got here before me...I feel like such a bandwagon-jumper now.
Anyway, congratulations! Way to be virile/fertile. I would give you money, but I don't really have very much for myself, let alone anyone else. Also, for name suggestions, I vote for Alexandra and Emile....just to be contrary.

In all seriousness, Hector is a pretty good name, if it's a boy. His middle name could be "breaker of horses." That, right there, is some cool shit. Plus it's not such a common name, without being weird or anachronistic.
Oh, is it OK to treat this as a baby-naming thread? Are you guys totally set? Am I just rambling for no reason because I'm jacked up on ADD medication (well within the bounds of my legally perscribed dosage, thank you. Amphetamine is amphetamine, people)? Seriously, though, Hector is a fucking awesome name. He's basically the most heroic hero to ever engage in heroism. Plus, then the name disposes him to being a literature nerd, on top of all the other kinds of nerd-dom into which he shall be indoctrinated. You could read him the Iliad as a bedtime story. "And then Hector, son of Priam, prince of Ilium, husband of Andromache, father of Astyanax, and guy with generally a crapload of epithets, disembowelled Sarpedon, son of Zeus." If decades' long war, egotism, and disembowelment doesn't just warm your heart right up, then I don't know what could. |

That's cool.
I mean, the baby. The baby is cool - Not Meister with a scapel... That is not so cool. I wonder - Shiney, will you be video-taping the process over the next 9 months? You know, Rai's tummy slowly balooning with the life of your beloved offspring... you two picking out baby clothes? Then maybe filming the birth? Then maybe youtubing it all so that we may share in your joy? I hear women in labor love having this, the most private and painful of life's moments, shamelessly filmed for all to gawk at.
