Pokémon Umbral ~ Ruinous Origins Mission 2, Chapter 1

[Bard The 5th LW]

"NO THIS ISN'T HAPPENING," Charlotte shouted, "WE ARE NOT SERIOUSLY BEING ATTACKED BY ZOMBIES RIGHT NOW!" She was pissed. It wasn't entirely the zombies themselves that she had trouble believing (not to say she found it ridiculous), it was that they were getting in the way of her kill.

"I'll make sure you stay down this time," Charlotte told the zombies angrily as she took out another pokeball from her coat. "I was hoping I could save this," she said," as she released Hammond from his pokeball. The Aerodactyl stretched out its large wings, and the sounds of popping gave off the impression it had been asleep for a long time.

It then slowly opened its eyes and took into account the situation, and let out a long screech. "I imagine a thousand years of being dead has made him bored an angry," Charlotte said to Moera, "I intend to let him take that out on you."

"Hammond Iron tail," the Aerodactyl let out another loud screech before alighting off the ground slightly and making a charge for Moera.

"Buck, use extreme speed to take out some of our new friends," she ordered. Buck made a curt nod, still a little shaken from the attack, and once again blurred away and appeared behind one of the undeads and let out a quick strike at the neck. One good thing to result from this would at least be that Charlotte could say that she had murdered a dead guy. Although she still had no camera to take a photo or video.

[Menarker]

"Yeah! I love you, Renny! I love you, Lola!"

"My pleasure, but we're not done yet."

"Hey, that one's perfect for Florescence. Fire's good on it, but bug type damage is much better. Still, an order's an order. Chimecho will fall this round, I guarantee. Florescence, X-Scissor! Cacturne, Sucker Punch! Get that Chimecho!"

"You can get that pokemon afterwards for sure, Shannon."

Renny then watched with dismay as Umbreon took multiple blows, although she hanged on bravely. Then the zombies came with their rotten odor, decaying human flesh and the paranoid fear of infection. Then one lunged and smacked the moonlight pokemon out cold.

"AUGGGH! Zombies! Noo, Umbreon!!!"

Swampert: Swa AMP erttttt... *"You're screaming in your freaking headset... Way to go, Mr. Leader."*

"Togekiss, time for some firepower!" Togekiss flew above Renny, equally dismayed with the appearance of zombie, swooping back and forth in a panic.

"Lola, Hyper Beam! Togekiss, Mimic Hyper Beam! Swampert, focused Earthquake! Put them to rest!"

Togekiss beamed with a tremedous aura of righteous light as the angelic pokemon aimed toward the undeads with a sympathic but unyielding air. Swampert meanwhile stomped and banged on the floor powerfully with tremors that rained books from the selves as seismic force focused on one particular zombie.

Swampert focus Earthquake on a zombie. STAB, high attack stat, Focus modifier.

Matthias was pleased with the results. So far this tactic seemed to be going well even with the sudden reinforcements. Nothing they couldn't handle. However a switch maybe in order.

Pokeshift.

His body reverted to it's original Venomoth form, wings fluttering and gathering their various dusts to be used. Mismagius first, Gastrodon's second. And what better way to take out the ghost then with its own element. His hand extended, forming a ball of ghostly energy in it and sending it flying at the Mismagius

Shadow Ball.

Somewhere in the midst of his change Renny started screaming into the headset. That boy...needed to learn to get a hold of himself.

[Geminex]

Impact winced, both at Renny's volume and sympathetically, at Metagross' injuries. He didn't want to lose it, Pierce could replace it, but it had just had its own attack boosted, and was on the whole quite effective. Unlike himself, he realized. The Pulverot's attack had winded him worse that he had thought, and, while the adrenaline boost was combating this, he felt weaker than usual. Chiruzu could probably help with both... He considered. He could have her heal both him and Metagross (which would restore Metagross' health and his stats) or he could save it for later (and deal far reduced damage this turn, as well as probably losing metagross). A no-brainer, really.

"Chiruzu, signature move time. We could all use some healing, and I'm still weakened from the body crusher. If you fix us up quickly, we'll attack afterward. Pierce, once Metagross is healed, let's focus fire. Pulverot on the left. I'll go first, Metagross can follow up. With any luck, it'll go down with just two hits. I'm saving my stamina boost for whatever's gonna come after."

He hoped they'd listen this time, as he prepared to attack Pulverot.

((Nothing special in this post. Impact's being polite to Pierce so he can regain control of the party. Also, I'm going to assume that Chiruzu's healing technique can also restore lost stats. Or else. Also, stop hitting me with body wreckers, or I'll demand an upgrade that makes me immune to stats drops. Fear my petty sense of entitlement!))

[Dracorion]

"Pierce... if you have problems with myself being chosen as officer, you should have taken it up with Rachel. I am competent enough to deal with the situation. There is... no need for your interference. I would strongly advise that you refrain from ruining your career any further. That means start following orders and stop giving them. Is that understood?"

"Stop being wrong and we won't have any more problems." Pierce replied. He had angered Impact by giving orders despite not being in charge, but he knew it was the right call. Still, Impact was the least of his worries. There were the Pulverots, Renny screaming into his scouter, and things he still wanted to ask Chizuru. "How did you and your friends find out about the Ruin-types before anyone else did?" He asked Chizuru. He was determined to get as much information from her as he could.

Impact's new orders came. "See? Now that's more like it. Metagross, Meteor Smash the Pulverot on the left."

[Astral Harmony]

Team One Synopsis (Impact/Pierce/Matthias/Rachel/Chizuru)
Matthias: Wild Mismagius is defeated.
Chizuru: Signature Technique "Five Star Flash Feast Frenzy" is used. All characters recover some, debuffs are nullified, and a regenerative effect, immunizing effect, and debuff protection are given.
Quiksilver (Rachel's Metaleon) & Metagross (Rachel's): West Sea Gastrodon is critically injured.
Enemy Force Update: A Wild Swalot has deployed in the Rear Battle.
Pulverots x2: Severe damage is dealt to Impact, Metagross (Pierce's) and Chizuru.
Wild West Sea Gastrodon: Heals half of its maximum health. Barely hurt now.
Wild East Sea Gastrodon: Good damage is dealt to Matthias and Quiksilver.
Wild Swalot: Great damage is dealt to Matthias.

Sometimes the best way to defeat a ghost was with a ghost type attack, as was the case with Matthias. Shadow Ball wrecked Mismagius, making it vanish into ethereal mist. A rather anticlimatic victory, but one less enemy Mismagius was a good thing.
Chizuru reached into her kimono and produced a frying pan. "Hi, Chizuru Suzuki here with my amazing cooking skills that no appliance on an infomercial could ever duplicate a tenth of! Here goes!"
It was sheer insanity. Even Matthias's Paradigm Shift ability made more sense. Suddenly, the disturbingly cool hallway got warm with the flames of love as Chizuru prepared a meal fit for an entire royal family in roughly one minute. And the scent was simply mouthwatering. "C'mon and eat up! I guarantee a flavor that will rock you to your very foundations!"
Was Chizuru a psychic? Impact saw all of his favorite foods here and he didn't remember telling her any of them. And there was no small mystery in how Chizuru managed to create delicious Pokémon food complete with poffins for snacks. Rachel spared a glance back and saw that Chizuru had even prepared delectable dishes for her, Matthias, and Rachel's Pokémon. "You may wanna savor the flavor, but since we're in the middle of combat, you should eat really fast."
They needed no further encouragement. It was like culinary heaven. And everyone instantly felt like they could take on both sides of the fight all by themselves. Chizuru had a half of a steaming baked potato complete with butter and chives when she turned to face the enemy again. Like a beast, Chizuru tossed the potato into the air and caught it in her mouth, swallowing it whole. "Hmmm...could use a bit less salt. I'd better take more time on it."
And like magic, Chizuru had the mess cleaned up in almost no time at all. Half demon ninja babes were amazing!

Impact was up, badly wounding his target. But Pulverots were tough targets.
Pierce asked Chizuru about how they found out about Ruin Pokémon before anyone else. "I honestly don't know. Tsubasa was the one who found out about them. She's really good at running into trouble and investigating the problems. Then one word to Lady Shizuka and we're all involved. Tsubasa's idea was to destroy the Ruin Pokémon before anyone else could find out about it. Given the large number of criminal organizations operating in the various regions that make up this world, any one of them could have stumbled upon these extremely dangerous Pokémon and then there'd be a lot of trouble. So here we are, helping yet another world that didn't ask for our help but could very well need it. But I like helping people so I'm not bitter. It's even a lot of fun. Your world has a lot of beautiful places. Anyways, you're up."
Metagross struck the Pulverot Impact set up with a powerful swipe of its Meteor Mash. This time, no attack increase came, and then Chizuru altered her stance. "I hate it when Narchams combine. Pulverots may not make up for how many creatures came together to become one, but they are highly durable. Be careful. A dual Sweeping Ray Syncstrike is not fun at all."
Rachel deployed Metagross. "Quiksilver, Iron Tail! Metagross, Hammer Arm!"
The West Sea variant Gastrodon took both hits with a determined effort and readied itself to counterattack.
Suddenly, on Matthias and Rachel's side, a large purple monster smashed through a wall. "Heh, a Swalot," Rachel said. "Lotsa poison types in this mansion."

Swalot (Poison) [Male]
Moves: Gunk Shot / Gastro Acid / Wring Out / Toxic
Ability: Liquid Ooze

The Syncstrike struck fiercely. One Sweeping Ray launched Impact, Chizuru, and Metagross and the next Sweeping Ray was directly upward, slicing across them in mid-air. They landed badly. "Ow-wow-wowie, that one'll leave a mark."
The West Sea Gastrodon healed itself back into safer status with Recover while the East Sea Gastrodon hit Matthias and Quiksilver with Muddy Water. Swalot rushed Matthias and seized him in a giant hand, then squeezed him violently.

Team Two Synopsis (Renny/Charlotte/Shannon/Lola)
Hammond (Charlotte's Aerodactyl): Serious damage dealt to Mew Pokébrid Moera.
Buck (Charlotte's Arcanine): Zombie is defeated.
Lola: Zombie is defeated. Cannot attack on next turn.
Togekiss (Renny's): Zombie is defeated. Cannot attack on next turn.
Swampert (Renny's): Zombie is defeated.
Enemy Force Update: Moera deploys Latios...and then Paradigm Shifts. Four Pokémon Zombies deploy.
Moera: Buck (Charlotte's Arcanine) is defeated.
Girafarig (Moera's): Serious damage is dealt to Togekiss (Renny's).
Latios (Moera's): Serious damage is dealt to Florescence (Shannon's Leafeon).
Pokémon Zombies: Critical damage is dealt to Florescence. Severe damage is dealt to Cacturne. Good damage is dealt to Hammond (Charlotte's Aerodactyl).

Moera was nearly knocked out of the air when Hammond cut her with Iron Tail. Moera's gothic lolita maid outfit was sliced and she had a large gash mostly around the left shoulder.
Buck, prehaps fueled by anger over Sol-leks' defeat, was merciless when it violently ripped the head off of its zombie. As the corpse tumbled uselessly to the ground, Buck spit the head out. It apparently didn't care for the taste of reanimated corpse.
Lola brought her hands together and a sphere of light began to glow between her palms. "Get ready to hit the roof!" Lola shouted, then took aim and unleashed a beam not unlike Goku with his Kamehameha. The zombie was knocked against the far wall and remained so for the duration of the beam. When the beam finished, the zombie stepped forward, but fell to pieces. That made sense considering Lola had turned the majority of its entire torso into nothingness. "Don't underestimate the nurse. The nurse is no stranger to making injuries as well."
Togekiss was no less successful, but its Mimic'd Hyper Beam was used more like a slicing laser, ripping the zombie into two pieces, then three, and almost four as the beam ended. The zombie was a broken mess on the carpet.
While Swampert's attack was different, it was just as good at administering a death the zombie wouldn't awaken from. Earthquake fractured some of the floorboards, causing the zombie to be swallowed up, quickly followed by a bookshelf. The zombie was crushed by all the weight that came raining down on it. It was probably still moving, but was in no condition to free itself and continue the attack.
Shannon had her Pokémon take down Exeggutor with an efficient one-two punch of X-Scissor and Sucker Punch. Exeggutor sure didn't last long.

"Let's begin for real," Moera said before undergoing her Paradigm Shift. Once finished, she looked just like a Mew.
One of her remaining two Pokéballs fell to the floor. "Huh," Shannon said simply as a Latios took flight. "Wanna bet her final Pokémon is a Latias? Either way, this fight just got serious, didn't it?"
There was even more trouble from below. More zombies, but none of them human. A zombie Dragonite, Slowking, Granbull, and even a Armaldo. Lola scrutinized them carefully. "Call me an idiot, but I think they're going to attack us like the zombies from before instead of using their moves."
"Oh, so they don't have the intellect they need to use moves?" Shannon asked.
"Just look at them, Emerald." Lola said bluntly, using Shannon's callsign. "Do they look mentally coordinated enough to use their moves to you?"
"No," Shannon said. "No, they don't. Still, the zombies from before hurt like hell and I doubt Pokémon zombies will be any weaker."

Latios (Dragon/Flying Legendary) [Male]
Moves: Dragon Pulse / Psychic / Luster Purge / Dragon Dance
Ability: Levitate

Pokémon Zombie (Undead)
Appearance: Zombie Pokémon. Pretty self explanatory. Okay, so here we have a Dragonite, a Slowking, a Granbull, and an Armaldo.
Suggested Tactics: As zombies, they don't know how to use their own moves. They also won't be as effected by their original weaknesses because of their transformation. In a way, they're like the zombies you just slaughtered before.

"You annoy me. Perish." Moera wasted no time in exerting her awesome powers. A brutal Stone Edge on Buck sent it right back to the Pokéball.
Girafarig took the inspiration from Moera's fierce fighting to do some damage itself, giving Togekiss some very painful Thunder.
Latios blasted Florescence with Dragon Pulse.
And then the zombies followed up. One hit Florescence. Two hit Cacturne. And Hammond took the fourth.
"This battle is getting pretty bad," Shannon said.

"Hammond, finish the girl, Fire Blast," Charlotte ordered, sounding a bit nervous. Hammond let out another cry, and let loose a rain of hell fire on the masochistic pokebrid. Charlotte was wrong, Moera was much more creepy than she was as a child.

Things were starting to get bad. Buck and Sol-leks made up most of the strength of her team. Aside from Hammon, she was down to her support pokemon. Regardless, she reached into her jacket and pulled out another pokeball, releasing Pike. "Pike take the Latios down a notch with a thunder."

Pike looked a bit uneasy. He wasn't quite expecting to have to fight against a mew and a Latios. This sort of confirmed his fears that he was going to be encountering many a rare enemy. Resigned, he followed orders and sent out a large blast of electricity at the floating Legendary.

[Geminex]

Fighting with the Kimonos, Impact reflected, took some getting used to. He had gotten used to the entire "supernatural strength and agility" aspect, though he'd have to inquire further about their semidemonic nature. What came as a surprise to him was that combat had been briefly interrupted by a 5-course meal. A good 5-course meal, mind you, and one he had thoroughly enjoyed (all his favorite foods had been there too! You really couldn't get any good Fearow tongue nowadays. Not to mention a whole fried Magikarp! Delicious.), but he hadn't expected that the technique's name was to have been taken literally. Still, he couldn't complain. He had felt well afterward. This had been immediately counter-acted by a mean Syncstrike, but for a brief moment he had been healed. And was now ready to go back on the offensive.

"Let's finish these two! I'll use my stamina boost and attack the one on the right, that should be enough to weaken it severely, if not kill it. Chiruzu, follow up on my attack in case it survives. Pierce, one more Meteor Mash should probably finish off the one of the left. Though remain on guard. I'm guessing they'll get reinforced one more time after this. Chiruzu, prepare to taunt, if necessary. Pierce... be ready to deploy another one should Metagross go down. And if I get eliminated, I'd appreciate a revive. Let's do it."

[Dracorion]

Pierce was utterly flabbergasted. Chizuru had pulled cooking equipment out of her mini-yukata somehow, and proceeded to cook a five-star dinner in a minute. Tyranitar Digging across the goddamn roof back at the bank made more sense than what was happening now. He was even more surprised when Chizuru served him his favorite dishes. But damn, did it smell good, so he scarfed it down, to even more astonishment.

"Holy... this- I- best food I've ever eaten..." He stammered.

After staring at the empty plate for a while, Pierce remembered the battle. Everyone had been shook up badly by the double Sweeping Rays, but they were almost done. He figured Metagross could down the left Pulverot, and Impact and Chizuru went for the one on the right. Then Impact came up with the exact same idea. "Sounds good." He said. He didn't think it was a good idea to argue with Impact further. "Metagross, Meteor Mash!" Metagross hit the Pulverot on the left hard.

In the space of five seconds Matthias had come back to the battle from the extremely odd meal time only to get soaked and then wrung out like some piece of clothing. It was a very odd time mixture of sensations to say the least of it. One in which he felt nourished and refreshed, while in a great deal of pain. He'd have to make a note of this feeling later. He didn't even stop to think about Chizuru's meal. It was delicious but he needed his focus here instead of deciding just how much sense that made.

The regenerative effect from the food was also quite useful and he decided to bolster it with some of the enemies health. He dashed across the short gap to the enemy pokemon, briefly laying his hand on the West Sea Gastrodon Giga Drain.

With that he started siphoning away its hp to bolster his own.
