So Sean from Canada came back from Japan this weekend and brought goodies. I dont have pictures of all of them but here are a few gems.

Ok so this thing. This is a preserved duck egg, or a century egg or a 1000 year egg. It is tar black with the consistency of over firm jello. They arent refrigerated. but honestly it just tastes like a really strong egg.

Similar too, but not exactly, when I was with amanda I used to wear a ring of hers on that finger and I am the type that when I wear jewelry long enough when I dont have it there it drives me nuts. So needless to say when her and i split, no more ring. My mom took an emerald I had and had it set in the ring, the band is appaerntly based off it with a skull pattern though, we have a close friend of the family who is a jeweler and mom knew I loved my skull stuff, so he helped design/suggested it apparently. hmm, real emerald, eh? quite beautiful, but unfortunately pretty easy to break. i've been thinking about replacing the stupid glass "stone" (not even real cubic zirconium) in my high school class ring with a chunk of schorl (jet black tourmaline) that i found near the black hills back in middle school. since the biggest crystal in the pegmatite chunk i brought down from the abandoned-ish mine is bigger than my fist, i figure i should be able to get several nicely cut hunks out of it.

on a somewhat-related note, anyone know of successful industrial piercings done with rocks/minerals instead of surgical steel or whatever that plastic stuff is?
