Renny smiled rather pleased to hear the good news.
"That is good to hear. But the situation was very chaotic back there, so I think all things considering I think you did a good job. Anyhow, I wish you good luck. Do you have any thoughts about the mission or how you would go about doing it? I figured I would be in Lola's group so I wouldn't interfere with Rachel, but I also made some changes." Renny then stopped for a moment as he gathered his thoughts and slowly confided in the pokebrid. "The appearance of those ruin types pokemon corrected me a bit on how I chosen my moves. I had Outrage and Rest designated to the same pokemon, which looking back on it was a bad move on my part. I'm glad I learned from it, but given how most pokemons aren't weak to dragon types, I wouldn't have had the occasion to learn from my mistakes if that didn't happen. Because my pokemon live and associate with me on a regular basis, I feel obligated to do my part and improve so that they can feel assured of battling on my side, especially when lives are on the line... innocents as well as those fighting on the front lines such as the pokemon I send." ... And by the way... That generating pokemon we saw at the bank... Do you have any idea why it decided to act when it did? Previously, the scientists thought it was an egg and there was no incident. Then it decided to act up, spawning those things while it was locked up. As if the egg was seeking a quiet and secure location to breed or perhaps there was something in the bank or its surroundings that it was responding to... Also, the egg must have been inactive previously if scientists never notices that breeding trait before. So it makes me wonder why it would suddenly become autonomous. Or even, what if the scientists knew that the egg looking thing could breed and sent it there anyhow claiming it as a rare egg? It could have been a planned sneak assault on the bank! Renny looked at Matthias with curiousity, wondering he would have any insight on the matter, although looking much more worried. He himself hoped that it was just his imagination going overboard. *Upon mission completion*
Pierce looked upon their work feeling satisfied. They had stopped the bad guys, saved the hostages, and dealt with the unexpected appearance of the Ruin pokemon. The team had done rather well, and he figured someone should tell them that, since it was always nice to hear. Just as he was about to talk, Renny tackle-hugged him out of nowhere. This hit a nerve, and Pierce roughly pushed him away and pointed a finger at him threateningly. "Don't do that again." Pierce immediately regretted that. He had been too rough. Clearing his throat, he said "Ahem. Good work, people." *At the briefing* "... Fine with me." Pierce replied to Impact. His arms were once again folded and he was tapping his foot impatiently. Piercee was relieved not to be on the same team with Renny, and it meant he could figure out what was Impact's deal. He'd been rather curious about him since the first briefing. They were likely to eventually pick a field commander to give orders in the middle of the mission, and by Pierce's reckoning it was likely to be Impact. He wanted to make sure he could trust the person who would be giving him orders. Pierce started paying attention to the talking going on, particularly Renny and Matthias' conversation. "Don't jump the gun." He snapped at Renny. "There's been no evidence that the scientists knew the egg was a Gendom. I'm curious as well about why it suddenly went active, but we're likely to find that out through actual investigation, not wild speculation."

"Though at least it's interesting wild speculation." Impact interjected. "I fully agree that Renny's being overeager, but asssuming that we'll meet Ruin pokemon again on our next mission, it's worth knowing as much about them as we can. Sadly, it seems the research teams have been taking their time... Keep an eye out for info that could be valuable... perhaps when we know more, our wild speculation will be more accurate."
He paused. "Back to tactical matters, do any of you have... preferences regarding teams? Pierce, Rachel and myself would make an effective squad, but perhaps we could use one more." |

We know thus far that the Ruin types are naturally endowed with some combat tactics. The easiest explanation is that the Gendom heard the chaos outside the vault door and started spawning Narchams. When the door was open Darcen would have had next to no time to react to the Narchams. At least that's the easiest explanation. I'm far more curious as to where they found it this Gendom and why it would let itself be captured. It seems that capturing something that produces highly dangerous pokemon would be nigh on impossible, let alone with no forewarning that it has that capability.
Matthias didn't have any huge problem with Renny but he viewed the team in a different manner. Renny was young, naive, and thus extremely impressionable. So long as he didn't give Renny the time to think he wouldn't be hard to predict. |

Renny was eager enough to heed what was said, but felt down that Pierce and Impact practically teamed up to shut him down. He had no idea whether or not anyone had any special infomation handy, and to him his "wild conjectures" were just him brainstorming concepts that his team-mates could update him on. Even Matthias basically repeated what Renny had said, with only one or two details added. While it was appreciated, the lack of symmetry to the situation was depressing to the young one. It's not like the higher-ups would privy him to any of the information that goes on. But his wish to be kept up to date and helpful was seen as him trying to pass speculation as fact... so Renny glummly sat with his face to the desktop of his seat, waiting for anything new to occur.

"And..." Impact started again, not noticing Renny's glumness "there's another matter we should be discussing. Leadership. Until Rayleen's... recovered... we need an individual who can make tactical and strategic calls, coordinate people, and so on. And officer, really. Not officially promoted of course, but someone the team elects and agrees to... obey. This need not be permanent, of course, but seeing as we're going to be splitting into two teams anyway, the opportunity to give two individuals the chance to prove themselves as leaders is present. Though of course, we need coherent teams first..."

"Let's pick the teams first. I guess me and Impact are going with Rachel, and Renny's going with the new support Pokebrid. I suggest that Charlotte and... hm... Isaac, go with them. That'd leave Matthias and Kenno with me and Impact. Seems like a good distribution of our forces." Pierce said. "Unless someone can think of something better?"

Impact nodded. "Sounds acceptable. Fairly even split. I'm hoping you've already considered what attacks you'll use... I'm thinking that if we have to fight powerful Ruin pokemon again, confusing them would be a lot more helpfull than paralysis. But enough of that... back to the issue of... leadership."

"You guys can work out your proposed leadership in your group, but Lola and the assistant that is to come hasn't arrived yet, so I'm not eager to discuss leadership in my team quite just yet... although I guess I could discuss tactics with Charlotte."
Renny removed his face from the desk and walked toward her, taking a more passive expression as he hoped that she had some worthwhile ideas or that at least she was open enough to listening to his thoughts, although his good nature had hit a pit. "So... Charlotte. How do you feel about your pokemons at the moment? Any concerns about what we will be fighting or the attacks you'll use?" Last edited by Menarker; 03-09-2010 at 12:24 AM. |

"Of course. Renny's Umbreon can handle confusing for his team. Matthias has some confusing moves, but my Starmie will bring Confuse Ray just in case." Pierce said. "As for leadership, I don't know." And he didn't. He didn't trust Impact to lead just yet, but the biggest problem was picking a leader for the other team. Charlotte was a psychopath and Renny was a child, and the other two team members were unknown.
