I mean yeah, I don't get the point of the article. Copernicus was a rather intelligent person, but with my fancy future knowledge I could make him feel dumb with all his calculations should somehow he or I traveled through time to the same location. Science is always improving upon existing theories and this article doesn't really help the cause of Global Warming is a thing.

by 2050 it's going to be far far to late to do anything about global warming and more likely it's going to be long before that we hit the point of no return due to feed back loops.

The Arctic ice caps melting and being permanently ice free is not so far away now. More importantly this means the area will absorb shitloads more heat that it did before due to the surface albedo (light reflectiveness of the surface) changing, under the Arctic there are massive deposits of Methane clatherates that is frozen methane under the sea ice. there is already evidence that this is starting to thaw. Once the Sea ice is gone the area will warm dramatically leading a release of gigatonnes of methane which will make our current industrial output look quaint in terms of short term forcing. If that happens we can kiss our asses goodbye because that is game.
