Welp
If that's just the first Act, you'd need 10+ books to get through the whole comic. And people will still buy them. Goddamn.

Yeah that's a little disappointing. My interest in the book just plummeted from "very little" to "practically non-existent."

Yeah, the book looks unaesthetic, too. Like, something about it is just... Meh. The layout is distracting and ugly.
Edit: I had really hoped that it would be sort of a reenvisioning of Homestuck, either a text-version, or one with just large drawings, and then text below that would be more book-like, for every few pages. Hussie even said that it was different media, and needed to be treated differently. Then he just slaps down the pages from Act 1, crazy uglily.

I was hoping for something a bit... different as well. Maybe later ones will be different? I dunno. I was kinda planning on buying the Midnight Crew one or Hivebent one when it came out just for the sake of having it I suppose, but if its just a copy paste thing then I don't think so.

So, it looks like Jane is now DS's Irony Apprentice. He seemed awfully excited about it.
I find it kind of interesting how the guardian personalities come into play here. In the original session, Dave was Bro's understudy, blindly accepting that everything his mentor did was right. In this one, Bro is STILL the better of the two, but now he believes it's because it's his duty to improve on his genetic ancestor's ironic legacy. Also, YoungBro's speech about how top-tier irony must contain some sincerity implies that OldBro did indeed have a full-on puppet fetish. Not that it's any surprise, but now we have confirmation.

I'm more worried that YoungBro says he has Cal. Like his last appearance was somewhere in the troll universe, when he was used as part of the genetic splice to make Doc Scratch.
Maybe Lord English is sensible enough to have a backup paradox in place. |

I've been gradually leaning toward the idea that there is a Doc Scratch as the First Guardian of Earth in this timeline, as it's become plainly apparent that Lord English is, in the vernacular, already here. Plus a great deal of backreading through the archives has brought to my attention a great deal more in the way of hinting about the specific mechanics of the scratch, as well as factoring in that we're still in the same universe as the original kids, just a different timeline within it, meaning that Jack killing everything remains an inevitability.
It's all pretty ripe for LE summoning.

Is it a different timeline? I was under the impression that the other universe exploded and borked, and then this was a new one, with similar but different starting parameters.

If it's a different universe, who made the frog?
