Also, it clarifies that his father does - at least verbally - respect emotional attachments (vocally regreting pushing Haley out a window). And more importantly, it explains why the party will likely be here for a while. I dare say something is likely going to happen to V now.

I was too, a few years back, but when you think about it, really, why? The English were infiltrated by fiends ages ago, and incorperated their language to create English.

I'm actually surprised that Haley is worried about the ethical issues. I mean, she's not evil, and is chaotic, I grant, but I thought that would merely mean she wouldn't care. It's interesting.

I don't see the connection between "Ethics" and the scale of lawful/chaotic. Slavery is an evil, reprehensible act, and it has been shown that she cares for the plight of her fellow man (See: the dirt farmers). Of course she'd care about it, especially given that she's seen firsthand how some people gather their slaves in the first place (see: Buggy Lou).

Sidenote: "Decimate" means "to kill one of every ten men." So yeah.

slavery being reprehensibly evil is through our modern persepective. after all in a world devoid of mechanical devices slavery is the only effective way of doing large scale public works such as roadway and water networks, resource mining, ect. Also societies where slavery is done voulentarily, and where it is far from bottom run of society

"Ethics" in DnD terms means law/chaos alignment. "Morality" means good/evil. I was using it in law/chaos. As for slavery...

Partially this, to an extent. While one could claim that large-scale public works could be done with money, many ancient societies didn't have it. Requiring a solid standard for wealth or items for barter meant that a government didn't always have the financial resources to pay for public works.

Further, in certain societies, slaves were accorded a position of honor. Slavery isn't always what we make it out to be. It doesn't work for our modern society and sensibilities, and it often degenerates into bad things, so it's good that it's gone forever, as it was badly abused in modern societies, having completely degenerated from anything good. That said, in some societies, slaves were quite possibly the better way of life.

All that given in the real world, it's easy to see the Blood Empire's version of slavery is evil. I'm not surprised that she's against evil, I'm surprised she's vocally against evil when evil is the one that's currently in charge. It seems like she'd just kind of go with the flow until she's safe. Chaos hates "order", however, so I can see her chafing at that, and thus the notion of slavery. My surprise was her vocalness where she might be over-heard. Nonetheless, you're right, it's not out of character.
