Default Referenced off of?

Recently I found a picture that I think might have been referenced off of one I did. (I used a manga as a reference for my own picture so it's very possible that they referenced off of the same picture that I did.... but there just seems to be too many similar lines. I mean, sure I referenced, but I didn't do it line for line.)

And another big thing that sticks out to me is the Kanji (I think it's Kanji) at the right... I added one extra line than I should have... and so did this person, in the exact same place.

I don't really care, I mean, I reference off of thing a lot, but one thing that kind of makes me weary is on this specific oekaki board you can UPLOAD pictures from your computer and retouch them on their oekaki board. I don't think they did, but it's possible that they could upload my picture and erase the tones and such. I don't think it's that drastic, I'm just curious if anyone else see's the alikeness. (look at the specific lines right next to each other.

Don't get me wrong, I don't care that much, I'm not going to shut this person down or anything, I'm just curious. I think it would be cool if somebody referenced off of me. (they say mimicry is the deepest form of flattery) I would be flattered if they did. But looking at it more, it might just be coincidence on the kanji thing... Oh well. I was just curious if I'm being too full of myself for thinking so, or if there is a possibilty I was referenced off of.

I attached some of the pictures. (here's a key of them)
Compairingkanji.gif- The three different kanji's in question right next to each other.
Both2- There's mine and their picture put together to compair likeness.
Herkanami2.jpg- The one someone else did.
Kanami.gif- The one I did.
A link to the original cover I used as a reference

It could just be a coincidence, but those two are just too similar to be different. I'm mixed on the whole thing because I'm quite stumped, but just wait for other people's opinions.

Nice picture you made though.

I'd say it's refferenced off of you. The pics are practically the same. It may have even been traced. The only real differences I see are in the hair, which would have been drawn free-hand after the main image was traced. Are you making money from your art? If neither of you are, I wouldn't worry about it.

Nah, I'm not worried, just curious. I thought it was kind of funny to go on a different Oekaki board than I usually go to and to see something that looked very familiar.

I believe this person referenced off you, but it wasn't so bad as a copy. You can tell because the style is too different. Look at the hands for one. Also, the crease in the crotch (crotch, tee hee) has changed directions. The person must have wanted to make a colorized version of your picture. he/she probably didn't even know you used a reference.

I should smack both you and your copier. In Kanji, every line changes the whole meaning of the Kanji. To add a line that wasn't in the original Kanji, it originally meant "Juvenile" but now it means "Faggot."

That's amusing, O-san.

It certainly does look like someone used your image as a base and/or reference. Maybe ask this person and see? He/she may have some interesting comments or feedback concerning your image.

Or, he/she may just be stealing it.

I had someone "reference" my username once. Sure, you definitely can't copyright a username, but I found it irritating that someone would read it, decide they liked it, and use it letter/number-for-letter/number on their forum. I mean, that's what she told me. Something along the lines of "I liked it and decided to use it after reading your profile and stuff." Awesome.

Oh dear. It's not like I meant to change it's meaning. The other people at the oekaki board where I posted my image who read kanji said it still read Juvenile though.... So I don't know why THEY didn't mention it meaning faggot. In fact, they specifically pointed out that it read "juvenile"...
