Default So how out of date am I?

I build my own computers so I usually build them to last as a cost saving measure. A mix of this and the slowing of system requirements has led me to not being as up to date on the current paradigm of technology. As such I am asking the forum. Basically I just wanted to share what I currently run and would like some feedback as to what might be lacking or what is getting to the point I should keep an eye on it

OS: Windows 7 64-bit service pack 1
RAM 8gb
Processor: AMD FX 6100 six-core 3.3 ghz
Graphics card: Radeon HD 6670
Motherboard: Figured this would be simpler

I know I need new speakers, mostly thanks to a fox, but not sure how well the monitor is holding up. Its an old 22in Acer, running at 1680x1050 and honestly I think this is pushing it abit.

Quite a bit but not too out of date really. Your machine still falls within the low end spectrum at worst. CPU, GPU and maybe your PSU are what need an upgrade as far as your rig is concerned.

But yeah I'd suggest picking up a new monitor when you can. If your's is as old as mine your over due for a new one just to air on the safe side.

My PSU should be good, I replaced it last year when I was having those odd random shut offs.

Get this, my old PSU didn't have a fan. I dont know how I missed that when I bought it

Is my graphics card really that out of date? Most under the 200 dollar range don't seem that much more advanced, and the few that are noticably more have absurd power requirements.

Not ridiculously out of date but shabby in comparison with what is considered top of the line. That said top of the line is damn near a thousand bucks in some cases so yeah.

FWIW I have the same video card as you and I am able to play Skyrim comfortably at a decent framerate.

Yes and No, You should still be able to play most games at a decent framerate and 1080p. So it's not an immediate priority but with in the next year or so. You might want to consider doing so. As high in cards start to drop within the 250 range. And more and more new games become more demanding for just 1080p.

I only listed parts what would need an upgrade over the course of 2 in a half years. Your not out of luck if you stick it out another year.
