This is broken.
Ok so I like to steal from the things I read. Popsci has this nifty, I know I used the word nifty, section on error messages that are comically stupid and/or ineffective/uniformative. Well I say we take this concept and extend. What have you seen that is smack in the face funny for no other reason then it's glaring irony or stupidity. Like this for example:
My dialing software has this built in thing that shuts it down if I am idle for to long. Well usually it works fine. The alert message popped up, which says: "Due to inactivity and for the security of your account your NetZero session was disconnected. Please log back onto the service by clicking on your desktop icon." Then it has a button with "OK" on it that closes the alert message. Well today I remained connected when this alert popped up. So I conjectured that closing this window would disconnect me. Low and behold it did just that. So naturally I had a good laugh at the fact that the entire reason for this alert message and been through some virtual voodoo completely removed. I may think of others but for now I turn this over to you. |

Technology is evil. It is. We're all doomed. I say destroy everything in the world that goes "whirr!"

Well, this is a kinda classic one, but I actually had this happen to me not too long ago:
"Windows cannot detect a keyboard. Press F8 to detect keyboard." |

Don't know if it still works or not (last I tried was with WIN98), but unplug your keyboard from your computer, then turn it on. You will get a message that says "Missing Keyboard or Keyboard error. Press F1 to setup or F2 to continue."
