Actually, there is a specific reason behind it, but I can't really say here... It does get revealed in the game, or at least according to what I've read.

Wow, I just checked his age in AA3 and the demo, and that's 7 years - which is exactly how long he says he's been playing poker. They're telling us that AA3 is the last year of his career.

For those who were wondering this is why Phoenix Wright isn't a defense attorney anymore(it helps to be able to read/write japanese).
He was disbarred in a trial shortly after the events of PW3 for using fake evidence in court.

Man, I was having doubts, but once I got past the dumb name, I found I quite liked Apollo. Though, we'll have to wait and see if it measures up to the other games overall.
And what the HELL is Payne's new hair-flip sprite?
