Swing You Sinners!

Hey, Everyone! Help Me Spend Money!
...That is to say that I'd like your recommendations.
I got a $50 iTunes gift card for Christmas along with my lovely new purple iPod Nano, and I've decided to use it to branch out into new and interesting bands. I figure your opinions are reasonably trustworthy, so I'm asking you to see if you have any bright ideas. (It'd be helpful if you can provide a Youtube link or something, so I have a feeling for whatever it is you suggest.) But first, what I hope is an informative selection of the things I already like to listen to:
Some of the things I'm not likely to be too keen on:

Well, you said that you liked Olympic Airways when I showed it to you, so I also must reccomend the band "Tokyo Police Club."
Seriously, check 'em out. Good stuff. If you like them, then I reccomend MGMT and Incubus, and I really dig the band Phoenix.

That's so PC of you

So this is for song's only? Cause you could get Song Summoner and still have $40 left for songs, seems like a really fun time waster.
Also, Three doors Down, Three Days Grace? Do anything for ya? Seeing about your taste, you might enjoy Franz Ferdinand and maybe jack Johnson or Gavin DeGraw |

Song Summoner's an app, isn't it? I got an iPod Nano, which doesn't seem to do apps. (Which is something I might add to the original post, actually.) So yeah, this thread is basically all about music and bands.

Everyone loves the Bowie.

Simple choices I'd give would be David Bowie and Radiohead, heck even Oasis. Perhaps some songs from the Kooks? Edit: Porcupine Tree might be a little bit heavy at time, but some songs like Drown With Me and Blackest Eyes are pretty nifty.

haha that E6 video is odd.
Yes, please.
I am always eager to get people into Joydrop, Splashdown, and Groove Coverage, but it doesn't often work -- and I don't expect that these will fit in with your tastes. But hey, here are some selections, you never know: Joydrop - "Beautiful" [I originally heard this in an AMV and within a few days had bought their albums]; this is not an official video, so feel free to ignore the visuals Wow, so they are obscure enough [and not a band anymore] that it's not easy to find more examples online. Rats. I've never been able to find Splashdown in stores, but a buddy of mine on another community was kind enough to pass along this page that has all of their known recordings. So I guess that's both not a sampling nor will it require the use of any of your money. Groove Coverage - "God Is a Girl" [also my first exposure to them, via an AMV] -- there are like 10 versions of this song, mostly slight remix/alterations for clubs Groove Coverage - "Poison" More techno/trance/pop, so perhaps a terrible choice for you. Sorry? These three came to mind as bands I rarely hear others talking about, so that's why I picked them. Your mileage may vary. Franz Ferdinand is terrific, though, for sure. Hmm. The Bjork mention makes me wonder if you'd like Imogen Heap. Also, randomly, I think everyone should have this song.

Best of any of the following; Boston, Chicago, Asia, or Kansas. Bands named after places are awesome.

Krylo, if you liked "Beautiful", you'll probably like most of their songs. They aren't all the same style, but they're definitely full of good lyrics and stylistic choices in the music like that.
"God is a Girl" is pop, so yeah its lyrics aren't the deepest. But it's fun. It may have helped that the AMV I watched with it was to A Megami-Sama. I know that "Poison" is a cover, but I am a big fan of their arrangement/the sound selection. There's also a guitar-heavy mix.
