Star Wars the TV series x2
I have just learned that George Lucas is producing not one but two Star Wars television series! One will be an animated extention of the Clone Wars series which will be 30 min. long and 3D computer animated. The other will be a live action series taking place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

It will probably suck, BUT! there's about a 90% chance it will be better than the Episode III movie will be, merely going by the fact that The Clone Wars was much more enjoyable than Episode II could ever hope to be.

Being an avid SW fan, I can only think good will come of this. The more Star Wars, the better. People liked the Clone Wars animated series, so they might like this too.
Also, as we get closer to the origional trillogy in timeline, people seem to like the movies and tv shows better. Maybe this is just because George and everyone else is learning what they do right. We can only hope. (Thanks, now I have a new hope*) *Bad Joke

That sounds like it might be worth watching. I can't wait until May 19th for the final movie to be released and bring some closure to the prequels. And as a Star Wars geek, I see the events taking place between Episode III and Episode IV as even more interesting than Episode III itself.

Let's just hope that the franchise doesn't go the way of Star Trek. If Star Wars: The Series ends up on UPN with Brannon Braga's name in the credits, I will have to kill someone. Honestly, I think that the live action series should end up on HBO, Showtime, or a premium channel like that. That way, nobody has to compromise at the whim of network executives. I'd much rather have a Star Wars series that entertains in the same vein as Deadwood or The Sopranos instead of any random, generic, syndicated science-fiction bullshit series that we seem to be so buried under these days.

Let's just hope there are other writers on these projects than Lucas himself. I really want to see better dialogue in these works than what a 10-year-old would rattle off.
I once took pride in the fact that I will be one of the few people of my generation who will be seeing the entire series "In order" for the first time. I'd heard the Star Wars movies were just freakin awesome, so I wanted to see it all in a sequence, to try and get the best effect. The result? The only thrill I've had from the movies thus far is watching Darth Maul fight. That's it. Sure, watching Yoda hopping around like some sort of rabid gerbil when he was fighting Tyrannus was mildly amusing, but I couldn't get my mind off of that lame lightsaber design. Ugh. Sad to say this, but if Episode III doesn't impress me any more than the first two, I'll pass on the rest of the series altogether.

LOL. The ewoks sucked but I doubt many of you were born in the late 70s let alone watched it. Or was it 1981? I dunno. Early 80s if not earlier.
You guys underestimate Episode 3. There's no more need for kiddies or romance. This is straight up corruption baby! War, darkside, sideus vs widu, yoda vs sideus. Anakin vs obiwan. Cmon ppl. There should be parties in the streets! If lucas can't make the best star wars movie ever out of episode 3 it'll be a dissapointment to me. You could get any half way decent writer with the ammount of talent and special effects work they have behind them to pull off the greatest star wars movie ever. and all that you don't need vader for, except so it ends with the sound of him breathing. |
