Live streaming & gaming

So I've been trying to get into gaming on the youtube along with working to create a decent news channel.

I worked to try out a few different live streams and software and thought I might ask what are some good ones others have used.

Streaming:

twitch.tv
livestream.com

Both can upload archives to Youtube.

Recording:

I prefer Fraps + Sony Vegas + Youtube but there's about a thousand options and combinations.

only downsides to fraps is it doesnt' have alot of bells and whistles and things are barely compressed so they take up ALOT of space.

That's also an advantage though. After splicing together audio and video and further editing you can compress it however you wish and then either archive the huge-ass file or delete it if you don't think you'll need it anymore.

Also, I use Live Movie maker for all my LP style videos. Not that I need to do anything fancy or anything.

For streaming I use Livestream. Twitch is also said to be really good but it seems to be a little harder to set up.

Twitch gives a lot of options though. I like how you can put yourself up along with the video.

I just wish I were better at splitting video and being entertaining. Still, wegame would have been good if it fight work with more than just itself. Hypercam I felt drowned out my video, giving me bad quality.

if you are inexperienced with the fancy stuff maybe use simpler livestream and you can look into/experiment with Twitch as you go. No one said you have to stick with one over the other.

Didn't livestream cost $45 a month?

Twitch is good, harder to set up but good. If your setup is the free version of Xsplit + Twitch combo; Livestream is just easier to use and, has a better quality.

Also, Livestream is free, just get the Procaster and, you're good to go.
