Need a new mouse
So this one mouse that I've had for ages seems to be starting to die on me. I move it on the mousepad, and nothing occurs, the laser doesn't seem to be picking up the movement. Cleaning the bottom doesn't seem to help either.
So any reccomendations? Price is going to be my biggest factor, and I'd prefer a wired one, as wireless stuff isn't the best thing around here for some reason, plus I'm afraid of losing the stuff. However if it's good enough, then wireless will be fine.

I've never run into any problems with Logitech. Here's a basic corded model for about $10

I use the Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 for my main computer (came with a wireless keyboard I got from Goodwill). Fuckloads of battery life (if you follow my channel you'll have seen the one time my mouse has died in the 6 months I've had it) but it's semi-ergonomic shape makes it perfect for desktops but not so good for laptops. Logitech is also really reliable like Shyria says, and I use one of the tiny wireless versions for my laptop, which serves perfectly and also lasts forever.

1 more vote for Logitech, I got a couple mice and a keyboard and I absolutely love them. If you find one of those mice that have the "unifying" wireless receiver, go for it. 1 of my mice and the keyboard use it and the range is amazing, and have no stuttering at all. Also, Unifying stuff can use the same receiver for up to 6 devices (even if they only have mice and keyboards that use that thing :P)

or keep rechargeables handy
I don't get wireless mice outside of the on-the-go use, such as pulling a laptop in for a meeting, or travelers or home theatre (e.g. I have a wireless pair for a MythTV box I slapped together for use with my TV). Wires are more than long enough for any desk setup and, of course, always reliable.
I have been using Logitechs for quite while, as I like their design and how it fits into my hand (such as the MX500-series, the G500 I have now, and one with a similar shape back when I still used a ball mouse). But in the cheaper range (sub $20) I am not convinced any is really better than the other. If you do go wireless, make sure it's one you can turn off; the set I have just drains batteries all the time, regardless of use.

Unless you need a super precision mouse I would just buy a $10 Logitech or HP mouse.
If you decide to splurge (More than $30) I would recommend Logitech over all the other high end mice on the market. If you decide to go for Razer, get a wireless mouse. The wires they use in their cords are sub par and cause shorts even under normal use.

Logitech has always done right by me, and though I have been thinking about getting something wireless, the nuisance of batteries and signal in a place where I don't have cell reception in my own bedroom and my wifi spazs out because despite being a fire catgod, I apparently radiate enough electronic interference to short out most radios.
One thing I am thinking of using is the new Daemon Tools USB beta thingy I got to connect my mouse and keyboard to my lappytop, and then use them as a mouse and keyboard for my computer at a distance through my wireless network. I would probably also buy a hard (not soft) mousepad for your mouse, as wear and tear on a soft mousepad tends to grime up the mouse. Also, a usb extension cord because mouse cables are NEVER long enough when the time comes.
