The Princess and the Frog trailer
I wish they had used the time since the last hand-drawn film to reinvent the style, as it reminds me too much of the mid-90s made for TV stuff with a higher budget.
It is still nice to see 2D, even if the music is kind of disappointing. |

The art for Rapunzel looks amazing and unique. I think of this one as more of a warm up for their future 2D movies.

Did I miss something? When did Baron Samedi make it into this movie?

The animation looks terrific, and I'm certainly glad that we're getting some more 2D animation. I'm just not so sure how I feel about Disney's plan for this being LET'S PRETEND IT'S THE NINETIES! Going "Hey since apparently we can't think up anything good on our own anymore let's go back to some formulas that were pretty successful a decade ago" just makes me look forward to some other animated movies this summer, Up and Ponyo.
Totally gonna go see it anyway though. |

I didn't really expect her
to turn into a frog when she kissed him though
. It did answer my question on how they were gonna string along the whole "Not gonna kiss you cause you are a Frog" thing they had in the original story.

Yeah, that's kinda the hook of the trailer, really.
Maybe Disney looked back at the past 9 years of work they had done and realized they didn't have a very solid classic like the old times, that they could flaunt proudly 10 years from now to evoke "Do you remember when..." feelings in people of the right age.

But they were heading in the right direction with stuff like Lilo and Stitch and Treasure Planet. Yaknow, stuff that was certainly not perfect by any means, but was heading in a good direction.

And then they made 5 million sequals of shit quality, and then decided "Hey, lets whore out our classic Princesses to needless and humiliating Sequals too!"
Then they did the looking back and the shock and horror and regret
