Problem with Ubisoft games on Steam
So, i bought the Ubisoft package on Steam recently and got these games:
Far Cry 1 Far Cry 3 Driver San Francisco Assassins Creed Brotherhood From Dust Rayman origins RUSE Ghost recon future soldier Might and Magic VI I am alive All fine and dandy, except so far, Far Cry 3, AC brotherhood, From Dust and Driver San Francisto wont work. . every single other game from this pack gives me exactly the same error... " ubisoft game launcher error 2 steam " or a variation of this. After some research online i came to find out that i would have to manually install the Ubisoft launcher in order for my games to work. Fine... a bit badly design, but at least i have a solution... except it doesn't work. Ubisoft's official solution from Ubi and Steam forums is this Quote:
And here is what have tried so far: Downloaded the latest ubisoft Launcher from Ubi's website.. i won't let me install saying i already have the newest version. I deleted every folder and Regedit of my pc with the words ubisoft and uplay (aside from the system critical ones) Tried to re-validate all my games on Steam for this sale. None of that worked, and now i don't know what to do here! ubisoft says to just get in touch with their customer service, but that would require huge awaiting for everything to be ok "maybe"... So, i would like to ask for those that have the same gams as i mentioned, to please test them from your end and tell me if it works fine.... and if anybody has any new ideas on how to solve this one, it would be much appreciated. |

So we are clear

I downloaded From Dust, it was abit fickle for me. Now I dont recall what I did too well, so keep that in mind. I think what I did is I downloaded it from the uplay launcher to get it to work or just had to keep trying till it finally went.
Upside, assuming my problem is similar. Once you get it to actually work it seems to continue to do so just fine

So, today i did the following:
looked on Control Panel > Uninstall programs - Did not fin any uPlay or ubisoft launchers/updaters. Manually searched my C:\ for any .exe that had "ubisoftlauncher" or updater or GU.exe, deleted them all. Then all DLL with the same names, and folders, and any files related to the games i bought that shared words with Launchers or Updater or Uplay. I tehn proceed to do the same with my REGEDIT on windows. i then downloaded the ubisoft launcher update on their website. It still does not install. says i already have the latest version. I then downloaded the uPlay launcher, that installed. Don't kown if it makes a difference. I then proceeded back to steam where i'm now verifying the integrity of the files of the games i ripped i apart and letting it download any missing files back. Right now i'm testing them all one by one via steam, here are the results in the order i tried: Addedum: I've to actually install uPlay launcher on my Pc to get beyond the Error 2 prompt thingy. So now i need to go to steam to turn on my Ubisoft game, which launches uPlay wich gives me the prompt to actually launch the game... great. At least uPlay loads fast... Now to try and get in game... Ghost Recon Future : Manually added Steam Key to uPlay, it adds the game to my ubisoft/uPlay portfolio and gives me the launch the game button. Game works now. Heroes of Might and Magic VI: manually added steam key to uPlay, game works now. Driver San Francisco : Same deal as the above. The fact that i could not find any Online matches for Driver SanFran is trully saddening. From Dust: Also works just fine via uPlay Assassin's Creed Bortherhood : Works just fine now via uPlay too. Took 10 minutes (timed) to get into a Multiplayer match though, sadly... So apparently, installing uPlay fixed my stuff right up. Which is fine i guess.... uPlay is not overly intruse, i can live with it... So, if anybody has similar problems, here is a solution then... |
