My Big Heroes Rant (season 3 With Spoilers)
So, this is going to be really "Rantfull" of me, and it's choked full of Spoilers for Season 3. So, i'll spoiler-tag those, but mind you i might miss one or two. If you dont want any sort of Spoilers regarding Heroes Season 3, up to Episode 4, you should probably step away now.
Thinking over about Heroes lately, i've come to a set of conclusions of my own. First and most vital, the show is Dying. As it is today, Heroes cannot survive 1 or 2 more seasons, unless we see some real Cast changes. Nothing on the actores themselves, are they are all fine. But the writing on this show is killing good characters. First, my biggest gripe. The "New Niki". Icegirl. She makes NO sense. It's serisouly like, the team couldnt get rid of the actress, so they needed a new character for her. Serisously, how can it be possible that Niki sanders was such a well known vegas figure and ONLINE STRIPPER KNOWN AS FAR AS JAPAN, and[spoiler Tracy is and Major Aid to powerfull political figures, dead center on the eyes of the press and they NEVER heard of each other?[/spoiler] There is not even hints to anything connected to them in Seasons 2 and 1 (as far as i recall)... And then, once she finds the Doctor who apparently took care of her birth, without a hint of doubt of surprise, the dude goes out telling how he "created" her, like if it was the most common thing to chat about... no secrets! No securtiy! On the other hand we have the whole Sylar/Peter thing going on. Yes, i can see they being Brothers and all. Sylar has the Power to understand things around him, and replicate those things. But has a Hunger, to crave for more. And Peter has a similar Power of "Copying" anyone's power by being near them. It's not too absurd. the Fact that Mamma Petrelli gave Syler for Adoption well... THAT's absurd. And stupid even... The thing is i cant see the show going on as it is right now. Peter has Sylar's power and Hunger and he is just too powerfull. Having peter Die by/or becoming a villain would be a step on the right direction for me. On the other Hand, Sylar is a pretty good character, and he is well played. THe whole Gabriel/Sylar deal, his aspirations of becoming "normal" and living a normal life, make him interesting. The hunger makes him interesting. Have him become a hero! They already played Sylar working with Noah. Even though sounded a little too forced, it worked. And it was cool. They play eachother out well, and it just works! On the other hand, we have Nathan. Nathan should be Dead. He died, and he should stay dead. The whole Political/Religious bravado is wearing thin on him. It dosent serve a good purpose on the show, and the Death of him would actually set in motion good things that could save the show. Have peter Kill Nathan, and have Sylar become a hero, next to Noah, and they rbing the heores together and together they take down Peter damnit! There, now you have a promissing event for season 4. My whole problem with Peter is that the Guy is unbelivable "goody". After everything he saw and lived on Seasons 1 and 2, he goes on the belive that if everybody had powers "they would just learn to control themselves"? What the hell??? One of the points that make clear just how bad the Writing is in this show right now, is that they are being capable of ruinning Hiro. How can you mess this up? Where is Hiro from Season 2? Going Mature and Serious, but with a kind heart... Now, all it takes is a silly Vision for him to turn on his Best friend and loyal companion? I mean... there wasnt even an Afterthought about it! What if the Future Hiro he saw was the bad guy? And what if he wasnt dead, just knocked out?! I for one, dont think it was too bad to see Ando getting powers. In the future were everybody has them, it makes sense that he would have them also. Afterall, he does help Hiro a lot in his adventures... but since it was only on the future, that means it dosent have to be true. The whole deal with Hiro and the Formula Was so badly made. Like, Destiny played out all the cards in such a majestic way... what was the point? That whole secene had "Plot Device" writen all over it. There is also problems with Mohinder. What is the deal?! After everything he simply goes on and Injects himself with a untested virus?? What is the point? If they wanted to Kill Suresh they could have done it in a thousand better ways. Now, what? Flyman? That seemed done for the sake of being done. And then, there is Parkman. I like the guy, like the actor, like the character. But, all of the sudden he falls "coincidently" at the feet of a guy who paints HIS future and is meant to bring meaning to his life? C'mon!! Now, let me talk about 3 more things. First... the Bank. Why kill The German? What a stupid death... Secondly, Why Bring Adam back? They just Toss that at your face... why? All the guy is good for is trying to destroy the world and being immortal. What good does that make?! And Thirdly the Explosion at Costa verde. Claire can survive, i got it. Speeder ran fast, but not Fast Enough... ok. Peter Teleported. Ok. But... how the hell did Knox survived that one?! The guy has Fear-based Super-strenght! What gives? Plot-hole!! Hello people... 4 episodes in and you're already dropping the ball? Heroes can go on. 4th season, 5th season. It is possible. But thanks o the writers, it wont happen without some good and deep Cast changes. This season can still be saved, but they are going to have to pull some REALLY neat tricks to make that happen. |

Ehh, never got into Heroes. I determined way back in Season One when everyone was having a love affair with it that it was basically a subpar Lost. The problem with Heroes was that only the first few episodes really captured the majestic nature of comic strips and superheroes, the notion of unique and awesome superpowers changing peoples' lives. Then it's all trying to copy Lost with crazy-ass conspiracies and epic plot twists when, really, the best superhero comics I've read? Not that crazy. The Joker is always absolutely insane. Batman always has a plan. Spider-Man always has a snarky comment. Unless you're talking about the Watchmen, great superhero stories aren't that complex...just (hopefully) well-written and with plenty of rock-em sock-em action scenes. Why Heroes meanders and deviates from such a winning formula is beyond me.

Season 1 was fantastic, but I really wish that Kring had kept with his original idea and have a completely shifting cast at a constant pace. Everything that was in Season 2 just kept on pissing me off more and more, such as DL getting shot at the end of Season 1, declared dead in Season 2, then holy crap he was totally alive! then someone shot him and, again, his phasing powers went poof. That was just a sample but Season 2 didn't impress me, and Season 3 isn't looking much better. Which is sad, as Heroes originally was great.

if you think about it, aside from Adam, they are pretty much crapping all over season 2. I mean, none of the character development seemed to be taken over to season 3.

I stopped watching right when Hiro stabbed Ando. Even if it's fake, it's stupid and I can't imagine Hiro doing it ever.

I'm not going to list, but they have seriosly made some changes to a lot of the characters that don't make any sense. At all. I mean, they just change in an instant! Most of them anyways.
Ok, one thing I'll say more specifically. The deal with Adam. He has this huge personal vendetta on Hiro for a lost love and whatnot, but he forgets about it all just 'cause they promise him a bigger cell? What the hell? Now I like the character, but this just seems done in a rush ignoring everything that might hinder the tremendous speed at which everything is progressing.

Osterbaum... Adam helping Hiro was just a clever ruse to escape.
